threehole Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Additional pics added below, some showing the dings on the Korina, and the small patch of "worming" on the back of the Monaco. Weighed the Monaco using the (me+guitar) - me alone method on the bathroom scale, and it comes to 8.8 pounds. Prices include shipping and paypal. Monaco III - $1750 Crazy quilt top. Will be re-installing original Duncan p90s in this one if anyone buys it. Korina HFCIII - $1100 - SOLD, thanks Lidbjork, it's on the way Believe this is based on the Artist? Currently has Harmonic Design p90s, ordered for this guitar with the middle hum cancelling. Great quack in the 2 and 4 positions, the Duncans did not really capture that sound well. I am in NYC if anyone wants to check these out in person.
bubs_42 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I keep waiting and the guitars just keep getting better.
whiskeyzulu Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Umm, I think thats my baby blue tuxedo jacket!! That P90 Korina Artist seriously rawks!! I bought mine right after you loaned me yours when I forgot to bring my guitar to the Bar Bat gig (doh!) - from that day was hooked on Hamers!
threehole Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Your Artist was great too, three p90s provide a lot of versatility. Remember loving it through the Dr. Z with the stock Duncans. On the Monaco, forgot to mention that I rewired the pickup switch so that in position 4, which is usually the neck and middle pickups, you get the bridge and neck combo. Well worth, IMO, giving up the neck/middle for. This is easily returned to stock.
lidbjork Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Would you consider shipping the Korina to Sweden? I'm seriously interested in it. (Was watching one exactly like that on eBay Germany for a while, but it disappeared before I could buy it.)I have plenty of experience -- only good -- from buying guitars shipped from America (and other countries). I can pay with Paypal or bank wire transfer and I will of course pay the shipping costs. USPS preferred (always worked terrific when shipping to Sweden), but will accept any carrier with a reasonable price.I've been a member of this forum for many years, though I haven't posted much. I currently own two Hamers -- an Archtop Studio and a Special P90.
bubs_42 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Think Mitch will let me off the hook for that Monaco III? HUM.....
Feynman Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Not a chance!+1If you buy that, and you should, you will have an AWESOME guitar, so the pain of losing the bet should be eased somewhat. It's worth it. Go for it.
FrankieIII Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Can't stop looking at this Monaco. It's definitely the nicest one I've ever seen!!!
seeker Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 For the Korina 3pup, what's the pup selector and vol controls setup?
threehole Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Still available, a few have checked it out. Will be casting a wider net soon, probably posting on the Gear Page in the next day or so.
black_wizards Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 When I see the Monaco, I wish I was righty and not lefty...
atquinn Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I'm not a huge fan of quilts, but that top is perfection!http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1090426-Austin
bubs_42 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Can't believe this isn't gone yet. Just sad really.
Ted Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Would one describe the M3 here as a "Strat on steroids"? IIRC reading that description in a post a while ago.
django49 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Mine is upgraded from the stock Pups to Lollars (and a few other upgrades). IMO, yes, it is pretty much an "SOS". I have not tried one with the stock Duncans....My understanding is they are "harsher" and less musical. But that may be just me......Looks like a nice price to me.
