I said to my wife last night watching this video, "This really makes me pissed that Radio Shack is gone because I could buy just the parts I need, not a bag of 100 of them." -

Tube Amp Troubleshooting Question
Saul Goodman replied to BoogieMKIIA's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Speaking of the FX loop, you can take a short patch cable and jumper between the send and return and see if there is any change. -
Tube Amp Troubleshooting Question
BoogieMKIIA replied to BoogieMKIIA's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Thanks. All the sockets are really tight, but itâs an easy thing to try and good practice for older tube amps. I also have the FX loop jacks to check out, could be oxidized. I opened the chassis when I got it, everything still looks new but it itâs over 10 years old. It was repaired in 2019 but the place that did the work doesnât recall the details. The repair code indicated it was only a bench charge so nothing big at that time. i found the service manual online so I wonât be going in blind if it comes to that. -
FS: Celestion Ruby 8ohm

I had to double back on this post. What do you mean you havenât hear of it? Have you been under a rock? LOL Players have been in LOVE with the blues since the 60âs, and they have also been shredding them ever since. Blue 15 watts: The alnico of the Greenback in a lot of ways but not as much power handling and when subjected to volume or power sounds amazing right up to the point where its fails. Ruby 35 watts: If you want the compression of the blue, but with more power handling for your 1x12 combos or extention cabs. This one is the ticket, it has the right amount of heft, but also the right amount of compression that will get you that classic Blue tone, but tougher and more durable. Gold 50 watts: More midrange, more clarity, brighter, and with less compression. Great mix with a more laid back speaker like the G12H30. Cream 90 watts: Full sounding, great midrange, allows medium powered amps to do more of the work and project through an Alnico filter. Does a lot of things great. I have had them all, the Ruby is my favorite, because the low / mid powered amps just love it and it has the vintage compression, RNR vibe, with toughness to handle the gig. Itâs the âSweetspotâ if you ask me, and I think that is what they were going for. -
The long wait is over and it was worth it. Bad-assery abounds with this one. Super comfy neck and the Floyd ain't just for looks; very responsive! The Gravelin is a perfect compliment and cleans up nicely with the EVH-eque rolling off on the volume.

Source for a Replacement faceplate: Fender Champ (Silverface or Blackface)
topekatj replied to topekatj's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Thanks Jim. the 5F1 you linked to is for a tweed amp. Iâm looking for one like the one Iâve linked to below. And, I was in touch with Precision Designs atone point â sheâs a very nice, responsive person but she wanted several hundred dollars to duplicate a faceplate. https://www.ebay.com/itm/117312967615 -

Tube Amp Troubleshooting Question
Saul Goodman replied to BoogieMKIIA's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I had to use Doxit (I think that's how you spell it) on my NT tube sockets. I sprayed the pins of the tubes and pressed them in and out of the socket not quite pulling it out all the way and being careful not to bend the pins. That would be the starting point and about all the qualifications I have to work on an amp. Perhaps @Dutchmanor @butcher can chime in. -
