Here are a few more gems: (Note Michael Richards cameo from post-Fridays, pre-Seinfeld, pre-hecklers) One from one of my favorite dumb movies - featuring Iron Eyes Cody (just for ELDUAVE) and some very Paul Stanley vocals... 1976 - Redd Kross Another RK: My name is, uh..."Jimmy"? Jimmy's Fantasy - Redd Kross A Horribly underrated band: "Cope" - the G. Aunts And one more with a very "WHO-like" rhythm section thang: Definite Door

TAB Benoit in Minneapolis Saturday

I heard Tab ditched his Tele and is now playing a dayglo BC RICH Ironbird with a Kahler. Any truth to that? -
Damn. Just Damn! Nice guitar, Doc!

Newbie looking for a standard
cmatthes replied to ettev's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Obviously, I'd say go with the Standard - the quality difference is SO much better than any of the Gibs you listed. By a LONG shot! Of the Gibs, #1 and #3 are the only ones I'd bother with, and I'd be more interested in #3. I personally wouldn't give the other two a second look - I have not been impressed with the regular production 76 RIs I've seen at all. Just my opinion, of course! -
Thinking of you and your loved ones.

question for fender strat experts
cmatthes replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'm not a Jpns Fender expert, but the neck stamp does look like a Fernandes and/or Tokai vintage series line mark. Could be Fender Japan - I honestly can't tell from the pics. Looks cool though! -

Nice! That body looks a helluva lot better than something I've seen out of "Revelator" guitars! (ha ha!!) -
I will say that the Ffx GC is light years better than the one in the old Veneman's location in Rockville. The ratio of teens:adults working there is far better too. It also never seems to be as crazy, at least when I've stopped in there.

BBC Crown Jewels on VH-1 Classic
cmatthes replied to cmatthes's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The Petty one was great - probably my favorite of the bunch, although AC/DC and the Faces were really good (I mean, c'mon - "Maybe I'm Amazed"?!?! Too cool.) The Police were good, but a lot more flubs than I'd have thought. Still, very enjoyable - I've been a Police fan since the early days. -
Classic early AC/DC last night, really well done. Tonight, it's Rod with Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones - really great Faces stuff. Definitely see what inspired the Robinson boys... Some other great stuff this week - early Petty, Police... Check it out.

I think that's where a MWJ should be... REEEEEEAAALLLLLLLY!

Freakin' GREAT! Keep 'em coming. Wish I had made that one more than ever.

Definitely a great story - I can't wait to see the pics and hear your review. Say Hi to Mike, Dave, the Franks, Jol, and everybody else up there from the HFC!!

Man, those pics all look great, but does everybody in the midwest wear their straps so high up?! BTW - Bruce: Let me know when that T-51 isn't workin' fer ya, remember?!?! (ha ha!)

5 Most Underrated Guitar Players of all time
cmatthes replied to JohnnyFeedback's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
James Honeyman-Scott has always been one of my faves. The guy could play the song like few others, but obviously had the stuff to back it up. Ditto on Johnny Marr and Rick Witkowski (CTS) like Serial mentioned. -
Awesome - I just KNOW you have better "pose" shots than that though!

New Avatar? Duvel IS the breakfast of champions.

Stike beat me to the punch, but wonder if you'd try Drum covering material (sparkles, pearloids, etc.) on the faces? Just an idea that I've not seen done before... Great work, pal!

F/S 1996 USA Daytona
cmatthes replied to cordroad's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
That's Gear Page and HC nonsense. There's heavy ash, heavy alder, heavy Korina... People often speak in generalities, and I've found that you can't judge that way. I've got a featherweight '96 Daytona made of Alder and a light-to-medium weight '94 Alder Daytona. The heaviest two Hamers I've encountered (not talking basses here) were an ash T-51 and a Korina Standard - both had to be pushing 11-12 lbs. All that being said, if you're looking for a Strat-style guitar, the Daytona is a great way to go and you probably won't find anything cheaper than this one. -
I loved the whole idea, but also would have liked to have seen crowns on there. Of course, the Victories are what makes it more "Hamer"-like. BTW - completely off topic... My mother-in-law won a minty '65 Mustang ragtop in a raffle today. One ticket, $35.00. The crazy thing is that she had an identical '64 1/2 that she sold weeks before my wife's 16th birthday and regretted it ever since. Can't wait to check that one out on Wednesday, but I'll make sure she leaves the spinners off!
