+1 on the Bowen Handle. I got one when I first started playing. It was a wonderful tool for teaching you how to properly tune your guitar - you never stopped.

You have first dibs on the PGM if it decides to fly, Mitch, but you ain't gettin' the matching sky blue tux... Or my Malcolm X glasses, or my ultra-skinny black silk necktie, or my polyester slacks, or my white wingtips...

I e-mailed PG several months ago about a rare vintage Ibanez I was selling, to see if he had one in his collection of rare vintage Ibanez stuff. He e-d me back almost immediately and told me he already had one, but thanked me for offering it to him. Nice guy. Funny...last night's CD spins included three Racer X discs and the first two Mr. Big discs lol

Damn happy one out atcha, big bro.

I've had two. One when Ally was around one and another when she was almost three... FYI, I liked the black sparkle one (alder body) better than the blueburst one (ash body).

I'd Appreciate Your Prayers, Vibes and Thoughts
Jeff R replied to DavidE's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'll put in a good word about you during my prayers tonight. Chin up in the meantime, we're with you. -
I have a Muy Grande kit in my partsocaster tele and I like it a lot, but I lean more towards big and phat howling rock tele over traditional twangy tele.

The last I checked with some symphony players I know, a "so-what" 18th century Italian cello was in the vicinity of $30,000 And that's just the tip of the investment iceberg, because I'd suspect symphony players surely gig with a backup.

Shotgun Messiah, and the most bad-ass Ibanez Jem ever... Where the hell is Harry K. Cody now? One bad-ass Hamer Vector, courtesy of Annihilator The absolute cat's-ass-baddest-ass Jackson pseudo-Soloist on the planet...

I'm getting my first apartment in 20 years this weekend, I'll be in it alone (aka no female to tell me how it should be decorated) and I have been going back and forth on exactly how to adorn it. This thread has me thinking I'm needing some 4x12s. Maybe I can find an old 80s touring dummy stack and convert it to a TV and stereo stand LOL As for me, Boogie Mark III 1x12 combo parked on a matching 1x12 Thiele. "Stack" concept and the Thiele gives it a nice closed-back thump, but it fits very easily on the back seat of my Saturn. I love the tone and of course the look of 4x12s but I don't miss transporting them at all because I've never had my own truck to get to and from gigs.

Man, those Caddy's are the SHITZ. Both of them! I've got a cherryburst LP Standard I'm babysitting for a friend whose playing army men in Korea - this thread makes me want to strap it on and play along with Alive or Alive II for old times' sake. That be funny as shit if I converted that Aria Pro II black LP Custom I recently picked up cheep into an smoker ala Ace LOL Let's bring THAT to Phoenix's NC gathering ... why am I thinking "HFC Moment" and "YouTube" HAHAHAHAHA!

1984 Standard 0734 in the house w/ lots-O-photos
Jeff R replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That guitar has heart and soul on the inside - the rest is fixable. It can be enjoyable work, knowing you'll have something to really be proud of with your fingerprints "in" it when you're done. Another positive: You'll always be at least a Top Three finisher when threads akin to "Tell us about your eBay nighmares" come up. -
PSA: TRAINWRECK FS
Jeff R replied to kizanski's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
You'd think for that kind of money they'd include numbers by the knobs. I guess that costed extra - sucks to be on a budget. -
I remember that guitar. That is on my "must own someday" list. You must mean this one...

Kinda like swamp ash. 'Cept it's swamp maple. Gorgeous stuff! If they shot a plank of that with a transparent cherry-jello red, with a matching jello-red headstock veneer, oh my poor wallet - 'cause my wife would have called the divorce attorney already.

February 23 House of Blues New Orleans, LA I may have to try and make this one...

I've been thinking about everything in this thread, and for me, it's not about Jimmy Page really....it's about what I hear in LZ as a whole: a massive, majestic sound that gives me goose bumps. Don't know why, but it does. +1,000

a Jackson and a Charvel, new to my collection (nhc)
Jeff R replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Not a lot of those neck-thru MIJ Charvel P-bass guitars out there. I think that was the Model 3B, and from the initial run of MIJ Charvels, circa '86ish. It's basically a Jackson Concert bass with rosewood/dots instead of ebony/sharks. They are INCREDIBLE for the silly money usually asked for them. Great score. -
On the Randall MTS combo idea, I'd give that one a thumbs down. I had one (50-watter) and ended up moving it. It suffered from sterility to my ear after the newness wore off. Me and Cajun Boy did a couple of the recommended mods to the "Recto" and "Blackface" modules and it improved them, but they still just didn't cut it in the end. I'm 1000 times happier with my Mark III combo. Another thing to consider is the hit you'll take financially if you buy a MTS new and later try to sell it. If you get an MTS, get it used for sure.

What's your favorite "lesser known" band discovery?
Jeff R replied to a topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Great band - their drummer lives here in town and our daughters went to high school together. Hirsch? If so, I bought my first Boogie head and a coupla guitars from him years ago. Super nice guy. My favorite lesser known band is Comes With The Fall. Their singer is moonlighting right now as Layne's replacement in AIC.
