+1 It passes one of my main tests. It gets better the more I listen, not worse. I've listened to it about 5 times in a row this morning, and it actually grooves pretty good. The solo guitar tones are sweet, and center solo is one of the best I've heard from Ed in a long while - not full of chirps and bird whistles and noise, but actual balls-out guitar slingin'. And I'm seeing this step backwards as a step forward. With Sammy and Mike's vocal ability gone (notice I didn't say 'lyric' ability), they've shifted focus to their strengths - Dave's sense of humor and Ed's ripping lead work. And they've done that pretty well. Which is why we liked them in the first place.

I agree. But I was expecting worse.

This will be Shawn's demise. Grail or not, you're doomed, buddy.

In '91 I asked his tech if the 3-pickup LP he was working on was 'it', not knowing of the plane crash. When he said it was on the bottom of the ocean, my heart kinda sank. It's so cool he got it back. What a great story.

Dammit!! Would somebody PLEASE close that northern border?!? We're knee-deep in damn Canucks already. Welcome. Hamers multiply like rabbits, so just give in to it.

Guess I was lucky! I heard the truck pull up, then heard WHUMP... WHUMP... WHUMP...WHUMP. I got to the truck in time to see the driver rolling my new speaker cabinet - end over end - up to the front of his truck. He just looked at me like 'What?'. Fucking idiot.

Is that an age thing? It seems the older I get, the more I'm drawn to Standards, Firebirds, the BillyBo(!) ~ anything not LP/Jr/Strat-shaped. Never considered the RD, though. Hmmmmmm.............. -
Keep in mind I've had it 1 day, and I haven't owned a TM60 for 3 or 4 years (and that one is a 60W solid state 1x12 while the other is a 15W tube 1x10 ), but the 'voicing' knob really makes the XD. The effects would be better if you could tweak them, and a tuner woulda been nice, but the overall sound(s) are amazing from such a little amp. Plug straight in and you're good to go. I never got that from the TM60, which sounded good, but always seemed kinda sterile. I like the XD's 'feel' better. You can probably get the same out of your set-up, but the simplicity and versatility of the XD are tough to beat. Try one. I think you'd be surprised. You can always send it back or flip it.

But now I'm home and holy sh!t. I stress-tested the thing for about an hour. The last thing I said before unplugging the guitar was 'unbelievable'. It gets real sweet between 7 and 10, has the right amount of volume for our whiny 'it's-too-loud' drummer, and - I haven't tried it yet - I think it will play nice with the Motion Sound AR112 beneath it. I'm pretty sure it's going gigging Friday night. I'm blown away. Thanks for the tip, Mitch. If you were here right now and a girl I'd kiss you.

What are the ugliest Hamer models?
hamerhead replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
There's something about the horn spacing on a Newport that makes it look odd to me. Not so much ugly, but odd. The Phantom doesn't really blow my dress up. And the Rick Neilson model thing - that is just AFU. -
Works for me, but it looks so ........new.

The Pedal Power has an AC outlet.

Spring for the Pedal Power, ya cheapskate. Your pedals will thank you.

Had a set in a P90 Studio. Very articulate. And flat. And sterile.

Resident 1st Generation Slammer Series Expert Needed

Why is a man of your important position ass a Hamer USA owner doing on a thread that specifically asks for help with a Korean model? Ego stroke maybe?.........not here pal, try another thread. First, I don't have to save for a guitar like you obviously do. Why in the world would I want a $1000 USA Californian, when I already have a $1200 USA 79 Stratocaster and a USA 88 BC Rich? Think for yourself instead of using these ignorant cliche's. I say ignorant because you haven't a clue of my situation but concocted one. That I am a poor old Korean Hamer user that doesn't have a USA model because of money. I think he was saying just enjoy the guitar for what it is and not worry about the wood type if you like the sound. If the type of wood is that important to you, HAMER USA uses easily identifiable woods that we could better help you with. I know exactly what he was saying, and it has been said a thousand times before and it;s not a fact but an opinion. He also only applied towards imports. I asked a question seeking a fact, not wanting your typical stupid philosophical opinion that you've seen a thousand times before that is idiotic on top of that. I can guarantee you that the ones that preach that do not apply it, they just can't answer the question. Wonder if anyone has thought that you can just sit back and enjoy the sweet sound of your guitar with the care free attitude of a pot head and be curious of the type of wood of your guitar? That might be too complicated for many, it's kind of a compromising way to look at things and would limit one's ability to preach. Anyway this board is not the place to come seeking questions on Hamer's, just specific Hamer's. Dude, I don't know which pipe you hit off this morning, but it had something in it that made you pretty full of yourself. And deleting your posts is chickenshit. Relax and listen. You might learn something.
