  1. I suggest a teacher. My over-60 brother-in-law recently picked up the banjo (no previous musical ability) and can actually play some stuff (he has a very good teacher). Although I don't think he liked it when I picked it up and in about 2 minutes was playing 'Dueling Banjos'. I got my wife a garage-sale banjo once for our anniversary (actually - it was a joke, it just happened to be our anniversary the day I was garage-sale-ing). She's never let me forget it. No sense of humor!!
  2. I do that - when I'm using the MicroCube.
  3. Achy Breaky Heart. I get sad every time I hear it.
  4. Upon Further Review: I actually like the shape of the body. It's that butt-ugly pickguard that just doesn't belong. Remove the pickguard, move the knobs and switch to the usual Les Paul location, add a Sustain Block, and you're good to go. .......And maybe an Explorer headstock............and maybe a S/S/H pickup config.................and maybe................
  5. You forgot a choice - "Who Cares?" How many SG-types are out there already (by other companies) that blow that thing into the weeds? Gibson needs to cut the horseshit and focus on QC. I guess I'm a nay.
  6. Ask Austin! Dammit Chris!! Quit copying me.
  7. Definitely not a Cali. Transplanted Hamer-stamped pickups maybe, but not a Cali. Still - cool looking guitar.
  8. Gary's great! I've grabbed a few of his cast-offs. His keepers must be incredible. The Huber is beautiful. Congrats, Poe!
  9. ....Michael Jackson's replacement.
  10. Yeah, that's pretty much why I quit where I did. I have some of the parts laying around, but just how AFU is everything? The neck is the scariest part. Unless you can do it yourself (AND know what you're doing), it would get pretty spendy.
  11. Compare the bridge locations between Greg's and 'it'. It looks like it's a 1/4" or 3/8" farther back. I know intonation is for pussies, but damn. Or am I seeing things?
  12. Do you think it would be pricey to bring it closer to stock? Yes.
  13. I threw a (low) bid on it. Maybe it can be saved........
  14. Rush - 2112 AC/DC - If you want Blood Eric Johnson - Venus Isle Styx - Crystal Ball ZZ Top - Tres Hombres Kansas - Leftoverture
  15. Response. My old Les Paul responds exactly as expected. It's like an extension of my pea brain. I had a Studio that I loved the feel of, but regardless of what I did with pickups and settings and whatever, I couldn't get it to respond the way I needed it to. It hurt to sell that one, but after 2 years of trying, it just wasn't gonna happen.
  16. '81 Special bought in '87 for $200. Still have it. And yes, it's the ugliest gray you've ever seen.
  17. Two guys and a tape recorder. Pretty great.
  18. I'm sure he uses Dwarf dust. It's like pixy dust, only shorter. Either way, the guy has some magic. Great looking guitar. If it sounds half as good, yeow!
  19. That's actually a shimmed bridge you got there. Somebody may have substituted a metal piece in place of the original rosewood or ebony shim. Great looking guitar. I bet it plays pretty well, too.
  20. I say it's yours until someone sues you for it.
