  1. Hmm... meeting Disturber or Johan Segeborn... hmm...
  2. They are that good! Jack Blades and Brad Gillis are constantly moving the entire time they are playing. Jack is a fireball. If another band plays after Night Ranger, the bar has been set extremely high for what it takes to match the excitement. I saw Foghat follow Night Ranger. It was like breaking the speed limit then getting stuck behind a piece of farm equipment on the highway. Bret Michaels had Night Ranger in the lineup of his Party Gras tour this year. No amount of Bret's banter could match the showmanship of Night Ranger. Some of these bands made up of 20-somethings cannot put on a show like the 60-70 year olds in Night Ranger.
  3. Night Ranger is a band that no one can follow in concert.
  4. Wellllll... When I was searching for JBL K120 speakers I ran across a lot of references to Jerry Garcia as if they were identified with him. The truth is everybody in the 70's who wanted JBL's was using K120's except Duane Allman and anyone who had a Fender amp with factory JBL's. But, wait! Someone posted pictures of his recreation of Jerry Garcia's rig. If someone was not after the sound, they were after the gear. In 1978 or so I bought the Grateful Dead album, Steal Your Face. It never sunk in with me. In the 80's I gave that cassette to a kid who was getting into the Grateful Dead. It is possible that my resentment toward the Grateful Dead is more about the way those people started messing up the audiences at Allman Brothers shows. I cannot say much about the fanaticism when I try to follow KISS or Alice Cooper as much as I do. There probably IS someone out there worshiping Yoko Ono and planning a touring tribute act. There are definitely people stupid enough to pay to see it.
  5. As as I saw "Dead Spec" I immediately thought "Stratoblaster." Yep. It has one.
  6. That wall of sound always looks cool to me. The Grateful Dead have a legacy that helped research into better sound systems. Alembic instruments have an origin within the Grateful Dead camp.
  7. Your wife is going to kill you when she finds out what you did with her jewelry.
  8. We miss you, JohnnyB. Happy Birthday!
  9. So, Gibson realizes its market is mostly idiots.
  10. Other cool Hamer basses are in the auction. 8 string Scepter Bass Another Scepter Bass
  11. Dusty Hill owned a Hamer, and it had a four digit serial number. Julien's Auction Page
  12. We better get our Guild, Gretsch, and ESP/Ltd single cut guitars while the dragon is still digesting its recent kill.
  13. El Paso was the first thing I thought of when I read the name.
  14. Collectibles will go through phases. When one brand/line/type gets to expensive there will be a lesser priced brand/line/type to get bought up then elevated to higher prices. There are always newbies entering the market who accept today's prices. We should be glad some of our guitars are possibly going up in price. However, some of us are still looking for a few more Hamers. I want the old prices when I find one.
  15. No one wants to dent their guitar, but you have to take that chance. As I get older I start thinking about actually using some of the things I have kept nice. Those nice guitars do not need to get beaten up carelessly, but they they can be put at risk. Nothing was bought to collect, but some instruments are nice to have in nice shape. Most have no dings, but some have been played in bars. I could worry about them, too, but... but... but... Just play them. There are repairmen who can fix the small imperfections or the major disasters. The nice knives that look so perfectly made are going to get scratched. I have one on order that will be put in a sheath, used, sharpened, scratched, stained, and it will make a collector cringe. I will enjoy the use.
  16. If you cannot play well, play louder to compensate for your inability to play.
