  1. Monster player. His first lp makes my top 5 of all time. Saw him during the Paper Money tour and later during his Gamma period, which I did not care for.
  2. Arthur Brown still does the burning helmet for fire. Still kind of cool too.
  3. Fond memories from my High School years. I agree with Willie on All the Young Dudes as being a bit sissified at the time if you were a fan of their other stuff. But glam / glitter was all the rage and I must say that song has held up well over the years. I enjoy it more now.
  4. Dr Seuss is a true prophet. Thanks for that quote from him.
  5. Actually heard the song on the radio in the car and sounds even better than the video.
  6. Not too bad. Better than the Cherone era and better than what passes for rock on the radio today. Glad they are making the effort.
  7. Had all their stuff. Just a straight ahead rock band from the 70's. Should have been bigger but Kiss had the jump on them and then Disco put a end to a lot of bands like that in the late 70's. Really loved those guys.
  8. First time I heard that Grace Potter and the Nocturnal song I thought that's the way it should be done. Great rock / pop song. They are from Vermont too. More going on up there than just milking cows I guess.
  9. Use to work straight over night shift. The 56 part is the year I was born.
  10. One of my all time favorite bands. Glam at it's best. Loved Give Us a Wink and Desolation Boulevard. The management team of Chin / Chapman tried so hard to make them a pure pop band but when those guys plugged in, they just could not tone it down and out came this wonderful noise.
  11. Now that's how it's suppose to be done. Really tight playing, heavy riffage and nice not to hear a lead singer making growls and passing it off as vocals.
  12. I am a gutter rocker and have been told many times that the music I like the best has no redeeming social value. I think that's one of the best compliments I have ever gotten, although I know that was not the intention. It may not be fashionable, but I would go to see Alice Cooper again. Forget the age, forget no radio play, etc etc, he is constantly writing and recording new material because he still has some things he wants to say and his band always has one of the best two guitar combinations around. Lot's of swagger and attitude. Zero nostalgia.
  13. I acknowledge the talent but their music is not my cup of tea. However their first Album is a hard rock gem. After that, I failed to get it.
  14. Drivin n Cryin. Now that was a good band that got lost in the shuffle.
  15. Well I am not sure if these count as bass solo's, but they sure are a couple of wicked bass lines. Geezer Bulter's line to start off NIB and Dennis Dunaway's line to start off Dead Babies. Both of those gentlemen are locked in on those songs. And just about anything by Larry Graham.
  16. And then Michael McDonald came along and tore the rock n roll heart out of the band. And just when you thought it could not get any worse, Skunk Baxter shows up.
  17. Yup, no doubt about it. Many would rather have a inferior guitar with a popular name on the headstock rather than a quality instrument without the name. But that applies to many other items as well.
  18. Never cared too much for Elvis Costello, but his new one is impressive.
  19. Any of you from the great white north near a town called Lindsay ? That's where my mother's side of the family came from. Use to go up there as a kid every year for about a week. Have some relations in Fenlon Falls to, just a little bit up the road from Lindsy.
  20. I heard a new song by Chickenfoot and it really sounded good. Can't say the same thing about VH anymore.
  21. That was hot. And just yesterday I put Live and Dangerous in the cd player. Nice timing.
  22. Deep Purple- Machine Head Montrose- The first one. Rush- The first one. Alice Cooper- Killer.
  23. I had a 89 American Standard in midnight wine. Really grew to love that guitar and the maple neck. Took me a while to get use to single coils but eventually I did, especially the neck pup. The bridge pup was the man drawback for me. I sold it and I regret it. Now I am itching for for a strat with a maple neck and a red lace sensor in the bridge.
  24. I got on the Skynyard bus late. Their stuff really holds up well.
  25. USA Charvel made in San Dimas Calif. If you ever get a chance to play one you will know what I mean. In Lake Placid Blue preferably.
