  1. Sorry for your loss. Celebrate her life.
  2. Welcome! You'll find some great people and a wealth of knowledge here!
  3. That thing Jack White built in "It Might Get Loud" or Les Paul's "log".
  4. It looked OK before, but it looks awesome now! Nice job bringing out its true potential.
  5. Took just a few visits to start getting used to it, and now I'm starting to discover features that will make life easier. Good job!
  6. In April 2011, with my then girlfriend on our way to Hershey. The little bastard flirted with her, but next month she'll be my wife so I guess I won that one! I took my 80's checkerboard Jackson superstrat and had him give it a once-over. Then he proceeded to show me some of his personal stash and we discussed checkerboard straps, cases, Kix, Rhino Bucket and whatever else we could think of. He almost sold me on a cherryburst Les Paul in primo condition. Cool shop, great guy, and if I ever pass anywhere close by, I will be back again.
  7. I was going to post this when I got home. (For some reason I can't post new topics or use the quote feature to reply while I'm at work, but Fast Reply works) I didn't think anyone else would care enough to post about Wurzel. The only time I ever saw Motorhead was in the early days of the 2-guitar lineup and Wurzel played a tobacco-burst Les Paul Standard that looked identical to mine. He was very cool and he and Phil both seemed to be having the time of their lives on stage. I had always kind of hoped that he would rejoin at some point. RIP Mr Burston
  8. Cars - Move Like This Material Issue - Freak City Soundtrack Accept - Blood of the Nations Journey - Eclipse And I'll toss these in since I plan to order them tonight or tomorrow: Ozzy's Blizzard and Diary Deluxe editions, Black Country Communion 2.
  9. The Gibson site is locked down from my work for some reason, but I definitely want to check this out. I love his playing and the different tones he uses from song to song. I picked up the new Cars CD yesterday and I can't remember but one song with a guitar solo which is a shame. I'll have to check it out again to see if I missed something.
  10. I love those guys. I'll be playing Ballroom Blitz at a gig tonight!
  11. Old school metal at its finest. Great job!
  12. I was 13 and still years away from my first guitar. I friend of mine played it for me and I thought it was garbage! A year later the first album I ever bought (excluding hits packages and K-tel type compilations) was VHII. I was much wiser at 14 I guess.
  13. Wow! Cool find. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
  14. I saw the VHIII lineup from the second row and the best part of that show was when Michael sang Somebody Get Me A Doctor. They did another song where Gary, Eddie, and Michael each sang a verse but I've forgotten which one it was. The entire show there was a guy giving Cherone the finger and screaming F**k YOU!
  15. Thank you, Johnny B! That Audio Technica was at the top of my list, so you just gave me the vote of confidence I needed. I also appreciate the tip on the cartridge. I don't use a turntable often enough to justify spending big bucks for one (conversely, lack of talent has never stopped me with guitars, in expense or number!). I'm curious as to what you think of the Audacity software that comes with it if you'd care to comment or shoot me a PM.
  16. I can't believe that after just 30 years of use, my turntable died! This puts me in the market for a new one and I'm looking for suggestions in $200 and under price range with both RCA jacks and a USB connection. I know there are plenty of these on the market now, and most come with some kind of pop/scratch cleanup software. Any suggestions welcome!
  17. Despite comments here to the contrary, I used Pledge for a few years on my tobacco burst Les Paul and I think that's what made it so cloudy looking and sticky feeling. I got some Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish (2 separate products) and got the gunk off and a decent shine. I have since used it on my pretty road-worn black Les Paul, also with excellent results.
  18. Man, that was a lot of pages to read through before seeing what I was looking for: a post from the man himself! Sorry to hear about this, Brooks. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
  19. AC/DC with Cheap Trick and Kix opening, and I get to choose all the set lists.
  20. I'd rather listen to Phil Rudd.
  21. Me too, Bubs. Blogs are shut down at work because they are social in nature.
  22. I think those are cool too, but I've never played one. I would add Steve Clark of Def Leppard along with Elliot Easton as another reason I wanted one. I'm not hugely into Steve as a player, but I did love early Leppard and that guitar looked so cool in the Me & My Wine video.
  23. Thanks for buying that. I was very tempted, but had just made a pretty major purchase myself. That is a very cool-looking guitar and it looks like it brings out the showboat in you, and I mean that as a compliment.
  24. I have this one's twin, not too far off on the serial number. I bought it online and the shop thought it was not chambered, but mine weighs 7.5 lbs so I'm going to guess they were wrong. Still looks, sounds, and plays great.
  25. Uh oh. Why do I feel a nagging tug on my wallet?
