I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but extra switches, active electronics and loads of other mods were a welcome distraction from my terrible guitar playing. Had the time spent ruining guitars been spent in study and practice I'd still suck at guitar these 40+ years later, but perhaps I would be applying somewhat less of a vacuum to the universe.

I’m trying to get ahold of user MAXSCHREK
velorush replied to Dave Harris's question in Ask the HFC Experts
FIFY It's all in the Mix and Feedback controls. Try this setting. 😉 And welcome, Dave! 🙂 -
I have always loved Ibanez shredders - can't play them at all, but I always thought they had the best looking shape. And snakeskin? When I saw this cover I thought this was one of the coolest guitars I'd ever seen: Of course, IIRC, that was real snakeskin, but I started investigating how to paint a finish like that and discovered a cheesecloth method that looked pretty cool. All that to say, great score!

Finding the wall studs is not a big deal, but it does dictate the layout of the guitars. I haven't marked the wall studs - could be they're in exactly the right place.

The individual Hercules hangers look better for a home environment. I like the idea of the wall-colored board mounted to the wall studs. Food for thought.

That's enough endorsement for me! String Swing was what I was looking for, I just didn't know the brand. I was really nervous about the padding on the Amazon version as I've suffered reactions in the past. I like the Hercules cradle, but if I used individual Hercules hangers I would end up mounting them to a board so that I could locate the fasteners on wall studs. The String Swing skips that step. They're 48" long for a five-spot unit. I think I might buy a couple of those. Thanks!

After 25 years of waiting for kids to grow up and move out, I finally have a music room / office. I moved in a couple of weeks ago and with seven guitars on stands (and me constantly perusing Reverb...) the place seems cluttered and it's difficult to move around. I am looking at getting them up off the floor. Anyone try this system? https://a.co/d/7uwl4LP (Amazon Link) Seems more efficient and safer (ability to mount to wall studs) than individual Hercules hangers. I am open to any suggestions for better. I won't say price is no object, but I am definitely willing to pay good money to ensure whatever I buy will be safe.

Can't say enough good things about this. Love the stripped down aesthetic and my gosh is he absolutely on point. Dude continues to peak.

Who'da thunk Will Ramos could sing?
velorush replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
🤣 He can indeed sing. The cookie monster that comes out after the 2:00 mark isn't my bag, but it's not meant for me. It is cool how he puts him back in his pocket and returns to singing. Kudos, too, to the engineer. That's an amazing reverb on the vocal. Lastly, that synth is fantastic! -
Long Shot - Anyone Near Aberdeen, NC?
velorush replied to velorush's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
On investigation, it would likely be about the same to buy new. -
Haven't seen that one. Very familiar font. I'm more accustomed to seeing this logo: ETA: In fact, here's a headstock identical to the one you posted but with the other font: Still perusing photos. Very interesting... ETAA: An acoustic with the familiar font:

Long Shot - Anyone Near Aberdeen, NC?

Anyone ever propose one of these Local Pickup sellers drop it at a UPS or FedEx shipping point and know how ridiculous that might be? Just a thought… -
Long Shot - Anyone Near Aberdeen, NC?

Grateful. It’s on Reverb. It’s nicely priced, but the “Local Pickup” thing might hinder sale for enough time. -
This is a long shot and a huge ask, but is anyone (really) near Aberdeen, NC? I've found what I consider a deal on an amp and matching cabinet, but the seller won't ship it. It's a head and a cabinet, so it wouldn't be a single 65 lbs. package, but the assist would include boxing / shipping two good-sized boxes. I would reimburse, of course, and I'm glad to pay additional for the help. Thanks, Jeff

Zactly how much would one of those epoxy or resin guitars weigh? Maybe I'm missing the point (they do look cool), but I remember picking up one of those Dan Armstrong guitars back in the 80's. And I thought a Norlin Les Paul was heavy!

15 Boss pedals in one. New PX-1 Plugout.
velorush replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'd love a Kemper, etc., but back in the 90's a friend & store owner loaned me one of those rackmount Art preamps that did everything in the world. It was on all weekend and played absolutely no guitar save a chord or lead run to hear what the next option sounded like. Even now I have a Positive Grid Spark. It sounds fine as far as I can tell (after using it a total of maybe five hours). I cannot abide interfacing with it via my iPhone and there are entirely too many choices when I do. I've been tempted by the Kemper, Helix, etc., too many times, but I know it would be just like the Art preamp experience thirty years ago... -
Reasonable AI interpretation, but the backup voices ruined it for me - definitely not soul harmonies. They also missed an incredible opportunity at the tempo shift (~3:00) by not going into a shout break. Too obvious? 😂

Anyone going Guitar Summit in Mannheim Rosengarten, Germany?
velorush replied to gorch's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Good grief! I started scrolling through the brochure and thought it would never end. This thing is amazing. -
Billy Gibbons playing an Epiphone LP in small club.

Sounds (oddly, surprisingly) like Billy Gibbons. -
Going to see Cheap Trick tomorrow

Brilliant! Like Lerxst's Omega Stand for acoustics. -
From my vendor of choice for tea (O-Cha.com) who does an incredible job of keeping their website up to date: I think I've got about 300g left in my stash, so hopefully this can get worked out in the next couple of months. But that's tea. Adding 15% to say, a guitar or even a pedal would likely make import infeasible.
