Tell us how you broke your neck
HAMERMAN replied to Ting Ho Dung's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Been lucky so far and have only managed to ding a headstocks or two. OTOH - I do often get asked what happened to my headstock when I play one of my headless Steinberger Spirit guitars. :-) -
Doesn't sound quite right - I think it needs a touch of human skull to round out the sound. :-)

Another awesome repair! Thanks again for sharing the pics - seeing workmanship like that in action is incredible.
-
>Not strong enough, time for the routing. By hand. With a Dremel. You sir are a mad man - and I mean that in the best possible way. :-) As always amazing work, looking forward to more pics and curious to see how you will handle the missing chip between the splines. So besides the neck repair it's in for a swirl job - right?......

+1 Great guitars though the thin necks aren't for everyone so try before you buy. -

With the ebony board and black hardware that would look sick yellow. Your opinion may vary. :-) -
Discussion - Worst Sounding Amp You've Ever Owned...
HAMERMAN replied to coolfeel's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Peavey Backstage Plus. No matter what you did with the knobs there was always an unpleasant layer of icepick sitting on top of it all - even on the clean's. That one amp made me a bit of a tube amp snob for many years until I finally heard some good solid state (Tech21) and hybrid amps (Hughes & Kettner). -
Wow - even streaming it over the web I think it sounds much better that the original CD did.

Fender Bringing back the Starcaster and Coronado
HAMERMAN replied to Citrus's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I always thought the curved end of the neck (where it joins the body) reminded me a LOT of early ('60's, '70's) import guitars And the curved end of the Starcaster headstock reminds me a lot of a penis! :-) -
Late to the game as always - how do I order a signed book?

Twas a HOLY SHIT day for Diablo!
HAMERMAN replied to BCR Greg's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That is f-ing awesome! This reminds me that in the "hindsight has 20/20" category I was thinking the other day that it would have been very cool if Hamer had been ran a little differently for the last decade or so. I get what Joel was going for and how he was pushing for a new high end identity. I respect the models that came along and think a lot of work and thought went into them. At the same time there are a lot of us that love Hamer's who want to see stuff just like this Cali. Imagine if Hamer had been able to split things down the middle. Half the work put into the new direction and the other half into shredders. I get the argument that there are plenty of other shredders out there to pick from but the same can be said for the high end market. I still think there would have been a place for Hamer in the shredder market as long as they kept the anything goes mentality (and pricing to go with it) in place. It seems like it would have given the (small) masses what they want while still providing a vehicle for advancing the art. Sadly I would have still been too cheap and broke to buy one. :-( -
How much of a Vernon Reid fanboi was I in college?

I kinda like it! Oh how I miss having hair. :-( -
Possibly starstruck by which famous guitarist?
HAMERMAN replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I have been fortunate enough to meet some of my favorites and have for the most part not said anything cringe-worthy. I am not sure if I can say the same if I were to meet EVH, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Lynne, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, Tony Banks, Sting, Geddy Lee or Paul McCartney. I would add Jeff Beck to that list except I am a car nut so I think that would save me in his case. :-) -
Happy belated birthday Greg!

Shame about the water damage but glad that it got you a deal. A great amp and it's awesome to see it being put it back to it's former glory. -
Well, it was fun....... but it's over.

BCSrides's midlife crisis guitar - Steve Stevens 1 SS1
HAMERMAN replied to bcsride's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Sweet guitar! Make sure you oil that fretboard, it looks a touch dry. It looks like somebody had a hex pickup mounted on it at some point. Not sure what that color is called but IIRC I have seen it on a fair number of Eclipes: http://images.google.com/imgres?q=hamer+eclips&num=10&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=886&tbm=isch&tbnid=T3p11bTCxSdKSM:&imgrefurl=http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php%3Ft%3D602142&docid=8FWOu_WpNgW8QM&imgurl=http://home.comcast.net/~smakutus1/Hamereclipse12a.jpg&w=1008&h=874&ei=f9pqUPX9CM6u0AGVkYH4Dw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=110&sig=114346794623354040737&page=1&tbnh=158&tbnw=182&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:75&tx=91&ty=98 -
Thanks guys - I knew this was the correct place to ask!

I placed an add last night for my daughters drum kit. Two replies so far, this one seems potentially shady: Hi, I am very interested and will buy at your price. I cant come and see it because my schedule is very tight.Your payment will be mailed out to you as soon as you provide your name, address and phone number.I will pay with check as am on a business trip and will add $30 so you can keep it in my favor. You should get your payment in 3-4 working days. Let me know as soon as you receive it so i can start making arrangements for the pick-up. Thanks Walter I am not sure what the point of this would be if it is a scam other than to get the address of a house that potentially has musical gear in it. ID theft maybe? Any ideas on how to proceed? My first thought is to ask Walter for his phone number so we can talk in person. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Dave

I find his instrumental stuff hit and miss but I love some of his vocal tunes, especially the ones with Maggie Reilly singing. -
Bass setup issue: Warbling notes on A/E string high frets.
HAMERMAN replied to tbonesullivan's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Are you muting the other strings when you try this? If not the only thing I can think of is that when you play one string the string next to it starts to vibrate slightly. Grasping at straws here. :-) -
A happy story.... and a lesson about Hamers.
HAMERMAN replied to Thundernotes's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Both great stories. Congratulations Brian - sounds like the best is yet to come. Now you gotta work on getting your son to arrange for Steve to play at your wedding! :-)
