What's been going on in the shop - next chapter
HAMERMAN replied to Northfield's topic in Shishkov Guitars
I'm liking these! What's the reason for drawing the control cavity (I assume) on the top? -
If you make a guitar called "Pinky" can "The Brain" be far behind? :-)

Or a lighter where the flame shoots from his mouth. :-)

I have the exact same Godzilla figure guarding my beer fridge in the garage! :-)

Glad to see somebody here got that one. When it popped up on ebay I knew I would be left in the dust when the bidding was over. That and the first run of Shiskov's are two times when I really wish I had started a reserve guitar fund for emergencies like this. Sometimes I just have to step back and count myself lucky for having the ones I do have, especially my yellow lefty Chap Sustainer which is already pretty much my dream guitar. Not that I won't still be jonesing over that Vintage-S and your Red Cali! :-)

PSA: Crazy expensive Ibanez
HAMERMAN replied to polara's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
The humbuckers and single coils didn't always match shade even when new and they all seem to fade. These look a little faded but a lot of them are far worse. -
PSA: Crazy expensive Ibanez

Price is a bit high but in my very non-expert opinion a few things warrant it: It seems to be a bigger problem on the pink and yellow ones but a lot of them look washed out by now, both the paint and the pickups. This one must not have seen much UV because it looks good and bright plus the paint looks to be pretty ding free - at least as much as you can tell from crappy CL pics. Fretboard is clean And most important of all it still has the trem hand rest plate. BTW: I have lusted for a desert yellow JEM since I saw the first add. Another time when it's very frustrating to be left handed. -
Did any Hendrix Gibbys ooze to the surface?

A work of art (in more than one way)! -
Also there are supposedly a lot of EPA type hurdles to opening a tube factory and that has killed off attempts to open a US based tube factory. There was a time when that would have probably just meant that somebody would open a factory in Mexico where you could avoid EPA concerns but I think the NAFTA agreement put an end to that.

>Bass sounds great on this, as well! +1

Which one of you bought this?

Copper is such a cool color - those pictures really don't capture it and make it look like some sort of blah peachy color. -
How about Yellow?

Was is ever in the back of a Mustang? -
Nice work - always great to see a guitar fixed and put back in action.

Looks like two awesome axes! I too find the Blue one extra cool. The picture of the 99 has a shadow that made me do a double take because it looked like tip of the headstock was missing. :-) -
Tell us how you broke your neck
HAMERMAN replied to Ting Ho Dung's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Been lucky so far and have only managed to ding a headstocks or two. OTOH - I do often get asked what happened to my headstock when I play one of my headless Steinberger Spirit guitars. :-) -
Doesn't sound quite right - I think it needs a touch of human skull to round out the sound. :-)
-
Another awesome repair! Thanks again for sharing the pics - seeing workmanship like that in action is incredible.

>Not strong enough, time for the routing. By hand. With a Dremel. You sir are a mad man - and I mean that in the best possible way. :-) As always amazing work, looking forward to more pics and curious to see how you will handle the missing chip between the splines. So besides the neck repair it's in for a swirl job - right?......
