Have you guys ever heard Avenged Sevenfold? While they are definitely not on as high a plateau as Dream Theater they are a far cry from being another Nickelback, especially with respect to drumming.

He seems to me like a pretty good guy who put 100% into something for a long time and is now starting to find it a bit stale. I think his recent work with Avenged Sevenfold probably made that clear for him. I love DT but the albums after Kevin Moore always left me feeling like they could have been even better (With the notable exception of Scenes From a Memory which IMHO is one of their best). I really wish they would let Jordan Rudess stretch out a bit like he gets to on his solo albums and side projects. Instead of a really good album every two years I wish they would take three and make each one incredible.

When my lefty Yellow Chap sustainer came up on ebay I really had no choice but to buy it. Thankfully the Yellow color seems to have been a minus for other bidders because if I had not won it that may have been "the one that got away".

That sucks! It's obvious that Jol had a big picture view of the direction Hamer should be going in. I doubt he has much "give" on that vision so perhaps it was only a matter of time; basically as long as it took to bump up against a higher up at FMC who had a very different vision and wasn't willing to yieid. From an 80's loving perspective I can hope for that but still doubt it given what fender and Jackson already have to offer.

+1 Pearloid almost always looks good to me. That one might even look nice with red or blue pearloid.
