  1. Incredible - building time and final result!
  2. Thank you. Now it's built already, it looks easy; but it took me several iterations on paper to steer this project to where I wanted it to go. I wanted it to remain as loyal as possible to the original RS, with a vintage edge and lot of class, but I also wanted a Vee. As I don't like cheesy metal shapes nor "over-pointy" stuff, I opted for the classic 58 V. I think I completely got it when I decided to go with rounder pickguard corners and with the tremolo plate exactly like in the RS. I'm very proud of this guitar and have no words to thank the builder, Ronny, who is a caring, skilled, knowledgeable and open-minded person, and who also had to deal with my caprices at every single level -and also contributed with his more than valuable input and experience, of course. So, as he has materialized my vision 100% to my expectations, I will never be able to pay him for that, in spite of what I paid him for his job. If this thing plays as good as it looks, I'll consider my guitar-related dreams realized. I thought the same at first, but now I think it's hard to tell how big is that market. At least it's a quite risky move going that path, for sure... but who knows anyway? I wonder May didn't come to that conclusion!!! To my personal taste the original RS shape today appears quite old fashioned. Instead of ever copying a vintage shape a clever facelift would sometimes do the trick. That's what the big companies actually do, eventually, to re-publish the old shapes in even more expensive limited series.
  3. It was an honor being allowed to follow up the order and building process. It looks much better than the original shape, doesn't it?
  4. I don't remember any black outs so far.
  5. Lots of Prince and Michael Jackson. The Purple Rain melody was the first my son learned to play at age 6.
  6. Well I've paid more for the Standard, but think the Tally could beat it on resale value. The Bo Diddley Red Special could be in the race for its exclusiveness. All three and the Newport are fantastic playing and sounding guitars and remain no-sellers for me.
  7. Maybe that's the reason he sold it too.
  8. There's always a good reason for a leak at the right time.
  9. We certainly need more boobs then.
  10. Some years ago I heard a Jobs bio audio book. There in saying it was Jobs who actually had the contract for the IBM PC with the Next OS before Gates came into play with DOS. It had been a management move that finally made DOS the formal OS for the PC. Jobs got payed and went his way. We could have saved a lot of time and hassle though.
  11. Exactly!I would be thrilled if Prince smashed one of my guitars.Would you be thrilled if he slept with your wife? Would there be cuddling?I had given him my Import with a chance to receive a better guitar in a compensation move.
  12. I know of a couple of repair docs who'd love to help him out to fix it. Greg? Murkat? Someone feels missed out?
  13. Totally cool man! What are the plans for the Hofner bass?
  14. Considering the electronic knowledge at the time, I agree to the randomness of effects of the time period. Fender guitars are the Ford T of guitars. The amp circuits where loose and cranked easily. What's called magic here is that a rebellish youth taking drugs had cranked amps in flush using affordable guitars playing to other youth people. Silver today, those former youth remembers good times now paying a shit load to pull back memorabilias to sweeten retirement. I'd say it was and is a golden age.
  15. Fantastic record btw. I love it.
  16. The 9 year old sounds quite regular to me. We've brought 3 boys through the same process, one on the same instrument. It all depends on the repertoire you go through. Our boys all started at age of 6. At nine they were sounding quite similar. Once the guitar teacher said to me that up until 9 the brain still needs to develop rhythm comprehension. That's the reason for the mechanic impression on childish playing. Our youngest boy, 9 actually, struggles quite some timing problems he won't be able to get rid of until he grows it out. If you are in the same situation with your children, be patient.
  17. Alles Gute miteinander?
  18. Said this and got a like for it.
  19. Actually, I grew up with them. If they were dangerous, I should be dead by now. On the other hand I don't have one in the house for 30 odd years and still don't miss them. So, what's the point here?
  20. In and signed please. Schiffer Order #49078 Date: 01/26/2013 05:56:48 EDT
  21. The list of downgrades confuses me. Wouldn't the Appreciation Threads fulfill your desires? You'd save a ton of extra dollars after all.
  22. Alles Gute!
  23. Hairy mouth, top or bottom, I don't care. In my opinion I think she's doing quite well. And I wouldn't want to mess with her. Who's gonna play that lick?
  24. A chick playing great lick! Man, I've got to tell my boy.
  25. Select or Signature. It's all marketing crap nobody really needs but desires because life would be boring without a bit of fun. I don't have fun. I play Hamers.
