Josh Gravelin in the House

I sent an email to @JGravelin with pickup questions and found out he is in town (Lexington, KY) with Erik Koskinen playing Woodsongs at the Lyric Theater tonight 6/9).  He got my friend and I in the door, getting ready for the show to start.

Josh is an excellent musician. His bass playing included volume swells and walking up the neck. Also sang harmony. They played a cool song using a Danelectro baritone guitar and lyrics about someone's grandfather who was b-a-d, raising hell, marrying a cousin and running with the devil. A cool show and Josh was gracious to visit a bit.

NICE! Also, what is that bass? It looks like something somewhere between a Telecaster (1st gen) Precision bass and a Jazz Bass.

I've seen this band many times.  In 2004, right after I was laid off work, Erik's band had a residency here at Nye's, one our local institution bars that is no longer there.  They played every Wednesday night, and I was there often.  This was pre-Josh, but I've seen them a couple of times over the last 5 years after Josh had joined the band.  I'll keep eye peeled for when they return here.

I think about one month offset. Look under Archive at the Woodsong website. Last night was #1143, the latest archive episode is 1139

Josh and I spent a few days fishing together a couple years ago. If you want to get to know someone spent 10 hours in a boat together. He quickly became family and we had a blast. Plus he went home with a big bag of fish!!! Super Great Guy!!!

Met him long time ago when he was playing with the Guy Forsyth band.

He claims he’s been at my place, but I can’t remember - totally my brain failure - but anyway we met again last year in Minneapolis.
