virtual Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Back in the 90's Recording magazine reviewed a readers tape by a band called So-and-So (insert forgotten name) and the Piss Shivers. Always liked that one LOL.
alantigold Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 The one I remember the most was a metal band that was playing a festival around Pittsburgh - Sharon Tate's Baby. I was amused - and angry that I hadn't thought of it.Alan
serial Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Not nearly as creative, but the band I was in about this time last year (F-Bomb), was originally "Two Chicks and Three Dicks".
pesocaster Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Dick -N- The ChicksRichard Cranium and the Nught Brothers
Turdus Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Back in the early 80's, when I was doing radio, another DJ called himself "Chuck Wagon". I inadertantly mentioned him on the air once as:"Chump Wagon"From then on, I thought that'd be a cool name for a band, LOL.
kenjones Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 My old band was called "The Missiles" (we shortened it from "The Heat Seeking Moisture Missiles").I always wanted to have a band named "Free Beer", but it would be tough to get a club to book you (This Saturday - FREE BEER).My band that used to tour had an inside joke where would make fun of bands in other towns whose names sounded cliché. If we saw a name like "Jack Hammer" or "Crystal Image" we would say something along the lines of "Is that the Long Point Jack Hammer or is that the Baytown Jack Hammer?" (Long Point and Baytown are suburbs of Houston). Well, it was incredibly funny to us...
Brooks Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 played an open mic in columbus 1992 w/ some pals under the monikerVAGINAL BLOODFART.we changed members and names to becomePLASTERED BASTARD.never played a real show, just drank in the rehearsal room.i bailed outta columbus after 3 months.
anotherfreak2 Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I always thought about using Garbage Pail Kids for name ideas, really, that's all I got..........

kenjones Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Weird. Small world...Me and some other guys here in Houston played a few gigs under the name BLOODFART back ten years ago. Mostly just low-key gigs at this tiny dive called The Edge Bar.
Scottcrud Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Ken,I thought I remember the guys in deadhorse mentioning that name to me. BTW, what was your bands inside joke name for Deadhorse?
kenjones Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 BTW, what was your bands inside joke name for Deadhorse? No joke name, just a lot of wondering why none of us had ever heard of Deadhorse until after they got signed (and wondering how they got signed and we didn't!).
anotherfreak2 Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Ha!I just found a local band here called.......The Goodyear Pimps
Buzzy Fretts Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I see The Dead Kenny G's are playin Dallas this week. Our old cover band was (eventually) called: Shortened from Two Thin Monkeys Joined at the Head (a lesser known constellation).
Craig S Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 My band is named "Big Mo Footer' which was named after a coney dog, no sexual inuendo as we have been asked. Don't know if this meets the criteria though.

sledhead44 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 This thread is funny as hell, how did I miss it? I was watching some show and they were jamming with a bunch of different musicians and needed a name real quick. They said you have heard of Radio Head, and Motor Head, but we....are TURTLE HEAD!
Willie G. Moseley Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I think I posted this on another thread a long, long time ago (this one dates from around the time I joined) but I was in a band in '66 called A Host Of Others (the usual bottom term on a list of bands coming to town in a caravan show). Not as intellectually-stimulating as most of the other ones on here, though...
