DavidE Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 This one's in Hamer's books. #024905 "Bob Davis, Custom, Blue, GH, N.O., 5-24 Eng" "GH" is gold hardware. Made right after Nancy Wilson's Watson and right before Tommy Shaw's 6/12 doubleneck and 5 before Tom Petersson's FB4 that another HFC member owns. A good week of Hamers! How's THAT for verification? So, a refin then? How to explain the headstock? Could the book say blue and it was green?
kizanski Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Wasn't Ed Bloman the sausage king of Chicago?HA! I weep for the future.
mirrorimij Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Wasn't Ed Bloman the sausage king of Chicago? Thanks. That one made me laugh out loud.

serial Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 So, a refin then? How to explain the headstock? Could the book say blue and it was green?Yes. Many of the older "blue" trans Hamers have faded to green-I've seen four old Specials that looked like green trans that when you looked under the pickup rings or in the control cavity, they were clearly blue originally. The green finishes look a bit more "teal" than actual green-like this one.
Wordupperman Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Bob Davis is a Chicago-based Jazz/R&B/Funk guitarist who was also a writer/editor at Guitar World magazine in the 1980s. He has had many custom Hamer guitars made for him over the years, and I belive that he is a personal friend of Jeff Golub, Felicia Collins, Adrian Belew and Jol Dantzig. The Gold logo is original and has been used on a few different Hamers oer the years. Kris
kizanski Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Looks like Serial and Wordupperman need to settle this argument.....IN THE OCTAGON!!
MCChris Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 The Gold logo is original and has been used on a few different Hamers oer the years. KrisNew guy droppin' some knowledge! Betcha Serial didn't even know that!Step aside, counselor. You been REPLACED!

mirrorimij Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I remember a gold logo Hamer from the mid 90's that was placed across the top of the headstock (a la Gibson) instead of in line with the tuners.Again, never say never with Hamer.

Jeff R Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Or the Homer Simpson graphic Cali with the logo that said "Ham."

serial Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I've seen gold logos before. I've also seen (BroChris owns one) headstock signatures. Of course, on BroChris', I can't tell whose sig it is!
BCR Greg Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 That's the back of a guitar, showing the 'lectronics.DUH.
Steve Haynie Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 With that back plate shape you would think that it was possible to get a four knob Special, but nooooo.
HAMERMAN Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 very cool but what is this: Volume pot looks funny because of the switch for of the bridge pickup (the EMG 89 can switch between HB and single coil modes). Middle tone pot is probably and EMG RPC or EXG and the second tone pot is probably an EMG SPC. Just a guess of course but it's all definitely EMG made.
hamerboy_ Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 And some of us know that EMG's rule. Like Gilmour and Lukather and Wylde and... ME!Flame on!-Bobby
