*I'm out of town until Friday, so I won't be able to get better pics or an exact weight until then*

I never thought I'd do this, but my want of a new motorcycle has surpassed my need to own three guitars. as I'm not playing out so much these days, and my Vector and Chaparral cover so much ground.

I hate lead with a minus but I'll go ahead and get it out there for some of the newer members. This guitar got the nickname "The Pizza Day" Standard because of the bit of Hameritis on the back. The running joke was that it looks like whoever was was finishing it had pizza that day and touched the guitar. What it actually is is tiny bubbles in the clearcoat in a spot about 3-4" in diameter. The only time I really notice it is when I look for it at the right angle in the right light. I'll try to photograph it when I get home, but I've tried to before with no luck. I might make it sound worse than it is, but it didn't bother me when I bought it, and it didn't seem to bother some of the other owners of this guitar because...

It's a FANTASTIC guitar. It is easily one of the four best guitars I've ever owned (One of those got sold last year, and the other two are what I'll be keeping when this one's gone.). I've compared the unamplified sound of every mahogany-bodied guitar I've had my hands on to this one and every one of them comes in second - and yes, even the ones I'm keeping. This is a really, REALLY great sounding guitar and a great player. Do a little searching around this site from when I bought it in 2005 and read some the comments on it. This guitar is the real deal.

Here's the lowdown:

One piece body - yep, one honkin' huge piece of mahogany.

Great subtle sunburst on the top with nice flame.

Light - about mid-8ish. I last weighed it over a year ago, so when I get home I'll post it here.

Medium neck - As medium as it comes.

Nice, dark rosewood board.

Tonepros bridge.

Dimarzio Breed in the bridge and an Air Classic in the neck. Think hot PAF for the Breed. The AC is nice and round.

Very cool control cover.

OSHC in good condition with a couple of nicks, etc...

If I nicpic:

Two pinhead-sized dents in the clearcoat on the top, and I had to look close for those. Not bad for a 12yo guitar that was my main stage guitar for a year-and-a-half. Other than those, the top is perfect.

Small chip in the clearcloat at the tip of the headstock and one 1/4" clearcoat "crack" by the "B" tuner.

I'll post high-res pics to my server when I get home for anyone who wants them.

SOLD CONUS only, please. Payment by PayPal, USPS Money Order, or personal check for people who've been on here as long as I have. Paypal to comfirmed address only.

Thanks

Damn nice guitar. And if you didn't already know, it passed through my hands just before heading to Lockbody. His description of how this guitar plays is exactly the way I remember it. So why'd I sell it? For some reason I didn't bond with the bodystyle. Its comfortable as hell, but for the way that I use a guitar here at home, it just wasn't happening. It sounded and played really nice though. Here's a coupla shots I happen to have online right now.

Yep - and I sold it to Cajunboy. Great guitar.

It just had to go to make way for whatever I had my eye on at the time.

The discoloration is only visible from a certain angle in a certain light, but that's not even a bad thing. This guitar has becoame a piece of HFC lore and should be snatched up (particularly at that price) for that alone!

Hmmmm..... I need to take mine out of its case. I find these guitars very comfortable to play standing up.

I may need to play a gig soon with my Standard, Korina Vector and Ibanez Iceman.

Wow! DavidE, look at the flame on that one. That's outrageous! Are Standards heavy, never had the chance to play one. How do they compare tonewise to Studios?

NICE! Agreed that these are great guitars and that price makes it a downright no-brainer if yer looking for one!

They are not too heavy considering their size. They balance better than a studio and are very comfortable to play when seated. Soundwise they are similar to studios.

Most people report that Standards are surprisingly light weight.

I'll bet Lockbody's has as much flame as mine, it's all in the angle of the photo. I was up on a stage and the photographer was on the floor.

There's just something about the way these things hang on your body that just works. If you ever had a hankerin' and never tried one, grab Lockbody's before someone else does. These things are fantastic.

You guys and your crazy Hamer cult! I'm gonna end up with 20 guitars if I don't wise up and stop reading this board.

I'd love to check out a Standard. First on my wishlist though is a Goldtop Duotone.

You have been assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Pics. Big ones. I tried to post the worst pic I could of the area. Makes the clearcoat look cloudy. When I was cleaning it, I'd look at it and go "Huh? I just wiped that off." then start to wipe it down again (Speaking of that, shame on me for not cleaning the fingerboard yet.). Several other spots that I've never noticed before, too. I tell you, unless you put it under direct sun like I did, and look at it from certain angles, it's just not something you notice.

I'm too dumb to embed code in the thunbnail pics so please follow the link underneath the pic.

You'll notice I also have failing memory as the clearcoat crack is at the high "E", not the "B" as I previously posted.

I also can't tell weight as it measures a just past 9lbs on my el-cheapo Walmart fish scale. Sure doesn't feel heavy, like several posted. Any previous owner got an acurate weight?

Crap, Bob - you're killin' me here!

That's a crazy price.

You do things for family that you'd normally be stupid to do otherwise, I guess.

Alright fence-sitters, use the search function and find out why so many old-timers on this site are gushing over this guitar at this price. Make no mistake, when I put it on eBay my reserve will probably be higher than what I'm offering it here for.

Really? :)

No one? :)

I guess the legend of the Pizza Day Standard is dead. :D

That's not quite as dramatic sounding. :D

I'll be driving to Lexington, KY this Saturday from Birmingham, AL. Will meet anyone on the I65/I64 corridor. I should be in Lexington around 1-2:00pm or so. An insane $1250 if I don't have to ship it.

Sold to a true tone connes... cone... conis... Sold to a really smart person! :)

Stays in the family too. The legend LIVES!
