eBay Phantom - This should be fun to watch!

No affiliation. This one came up in a post at the "other" place earlier this week.

I can't wait - this should be about as much fun to watch (though lower $$) as the four digit Standard last week! :P

Fairly certain that bridge isn't factory.

They said in their post that the guitar was a custom order. I have absolutely no idea but wouldn't a custom-ordered Floyd be a Hamer branded Floyd? Hadn't really noticed the branding until you just mentioned it. Not bashing at all, just learning... it is a really nice looking guitar either way.

Looks original to me. Floyds were available as a $250 upcharge in 1984. Hamer-branded Floyds didn't appear until 1988 when the floating trems with the pullup route came on the scene. I like that color IIRC it's "champagne pink pearl" or something like that. Too bad about the typical crack at the FR nut, but if that's stable, it would be cool (if I liked Floyds)!

not back then, thats a real floyd with the real wood thread mounting screws.... very cool.

Hey, he is local to me.... mmmmmmm :P

Hey! Who trumped my $350 bid!!!!

Wow! Already over $400 and it hasn't been up eight hours! This may be better than I thought. We'll need to get into a few retracted bids (that seems to be the new hobby on eBay) and some really zany questions offering BIN and requesting shipment to Zimbabwe... :P This is better than cable!

There you go. Learn something new everyday. When did Hamer start recessing the trem coverplate cavities and using metal covers to match the ones on the control cavity? (I've always thought those were classy touches; after playing Hamers, non-fluch trem coverplates annoy me :P)

My 85 SS1`s have the non-recessed trem covers, my 89 Chappy`s have them recessed......

I love it, but no more guitars needed --at least this year. Also, it's true the little crack between the neck screws is quite frustrating.

It's a quick fix...I'm on it!

mmmmmmmmmmm........... are you the owner of said guitar, or?......mmmmmmmm.....

Nope, I don't own it....yet! Looks like a late night ahead.

A late night would be worth it - even for a pink guitar  . I just decided to not join in the bidding on that one, but have been watching it all week. That finish is very cool.

Pink!? To me that's white! B)

I think it would have gone for more here on the forum. Somebody got a good deal!

Yeah someone got a good deal! It wasn't me but I hope it was somebody here. I thought it would've gone for a lot more....

Well, we all were watching the auction go, so it's as if it was also here...

Was it finally one of us?

Hey guys, its been a long time since I visited the board. I had some free time and decided to log in and saw this thread. For those wondering who snagged this Phantom, it was me. I'd only had Phantoms with Kahlers or sustain blocks, so when I saw a Floydy one, I had to go for it. So even though I haven't posted in ages, the guitar does live with a board member B)

When it arrived, it was pretty dusty so I took the strings off and cleaned her up nice, restrung it and gave it a spin. It played nice even without any adjustments. The crack under the floyd nut is stable, just in the paint, so there's no problem there. She's all original, in great shape, and the color is really cool. I'd have to agree with the 'champagne' color description.
