I think Stonge picked up an early '80s Greenburst SB at a Daddy's a coupla years ago.

I think it's been in their system about a month. Once Daddy's has had something

for 30 days, they're more willing to work on the price than something

that they just got in... It's not super clean but it has what I'd consider honest

wear lots of chips and dings on the back, the top seems reasonably clean.

actually, the Vernon Daddy's passed on the one I got (for $300) and the GC up the street bought it. GC knew what it was lol...

Mine is crowned and bound, but that wouldn't look bad next to mine. Haven't seen too many old greenbursts.

This one was brought up a couple of weeks ago. I called on it when it was at the original store before they moved it. It has some finish wearing off the neck just FYI. Doesn't look that Faded in the picture, the salesmen said it was in great shape with just normal playing wear. I'll looked for the pc of paper I had the info written down. I don't think it had the OHSC.

Unless this is a different Greenburst.(Not Likely) it was an 83 or 84 .

It IS an '81. The first Hamer I fell in love with (an '81-'82 Standard) was in that exact finish.

Nope - "Jaws" is an older Blueburst one. The one I am talking about was the first Standard I ever played in person. A dot-necked, greenburst model at Pierce Music in Dover, DE. Serial and I tried to trade them two BRAND NEW Les Paul Customs for the Hamer, and they wouldn't do it.

I still have that Les Paul...but I also have a Greenburst Standard. Life is good, to borrow from Gene.

I like the looks of the greenburst. It reminded me of Jaws. Guess I forgot that one is Blueburst, but it does kinda look like the greenburst above.

Chris, any chance of a side-by-side shot of your greenburst Standard along with Jaws? I'd love to be able to compare the two....

When I bought my 1980 Sunburst, in 1981, I had been visiting Guzzardo music on a weekly basis to check out their guitars. They had a greenburst and the sunburst I ended up buying hanging on the wall for a couple of months. I had made up my mind on the greenburst, and the day I went to purchase it, it was GONE and I settled for the 59 burst Sunburst that I own now. I'd love to have an old greenburst.

Bruce, I'll buy it and swap ya! Seriously, if your interested PM me and I'll see if he will work me a deal.

I love that 59 Sunburst that you have. It matches my 79' 59 burst Standard perfectly. This would also pull another vintage Hamer off the streets

I'm usually not this big of a tease (yeah right!) but after owning this guitar for 28 years, I'd find it very difficult to part with. I will admit that it was amazing to see those two guitars side by side though....

I'd say there's no way that guitar's going anywhere.

Let me add "gawdamn that thing is beautiful."

Maybe he just got the # wrong or I wrote it down wrong. Looks great in those pics! Lucky for me I don't have that much right now. I think 3 is enough for now.

Bruce,

Darn! However, I totally understand. B) The only way any of my old ones will leave me is to pry them from my dying hands.

I agree those 2 hamers matched like they were made the same day! Heck we will get them back together in April ;)

Oh well the 79' sunburst serch continues.....

Great, that means I'll have to bring my 4-digit to MN. I'm going to have to get a bigger car!

I put this on Layaway at Daddy's. How much is it worth right now? What is a fair offer ?

Nice catch. I thought about snagging it for myself. What he's asking is not unreasonable if its in good shape.

You put it on Layaway without an agreed purchase price?

Not to be a smartmouth but my guess would be, to Daddy's, it is worth what you have agreed to lay it away for. If you are flipping it well may I be the first to offer ya tree fiddy for it? :lol:B);):lol:B)

Buy it to play it and enjoy it first, investment second but YMMV. B)
