First was shipped to Kiz and was cracked during that shipment...Kiz sends it back and they completely destroyed the headstock. I guess they figured they might as well complete the fuck-up. LOL!!! Anyway...the chances of me being able to afford an Orca were slim to none. My Huber buying days are pretty much over after the next one. I am going to have Nik build me a Dolphin with a Nashville Tele layout. Anyway....I digress... When the chance came to buy this Orca I made sure that it would be a structurally sound instrument after the break so I inquired around and was assured by a few people that it was, indeed, fixable. I have always wanted an Orca but refused to pay the significant upcharge from a Dolphin, I just cannot justify spending an extra $1500 simply for a different shape. The Orca is a 25" scale as opposed to a 25.5 of the Dolphin but other than that they are the same guitar. The busted headstock allowed me to grab an unattainable guitar for an attainable price...even after the fix. No matter to me...I will beat the shit out of it anyways. LOL!!! Here is what it looks like when it is intact...

The Hubers are fantastic guitars too. Don't know that I'll ever have the cajones to pony up for one, even with headstock repair, but they are nice.

I knew it was going to be a killer when I strummed it at the show. BLANG!!!!! Acoustically, it is the loudest electric I have ever heard. I was stunned. I know it is a cliche but this one actually does "ring like a bell". Been playing it through the Road King for a few hours and this one was worth rescuing. I have a gig tomorrow and I will make sure to post an after gig review with some pics.Greg...I cannot thank you enough. This thing is a monster.

BCR Greg Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 It's Korina. I used korina for the repair, ironically it's a cutoff from the board used to make my Korina Standard HFC guitar . I got the wood at the factory 10+ years ago.So now this Huber has some Hamer in it.

The neck is perfect and it was completely comfortable to play for an entire evening. The only complaint that I have is a simple fix. The push/push pot that is used to split the coils was bad so Greg and I replaced it with a push pull. The problem is that the knobs are sunk into the body which makes it almost impossible to pull on the fly. Gotta find a reliable push/push pot. Other than that, this guitar has moved to the front of a great pack of guitars.

When they fail, they fail in the "up" position which means that the bridge pup is permanently tapped. That would be a disaster at a show. With the amount of gain I use on my Roadking, going single coil on channel 3 or 4 would drive me friggin nuts. LOL!!!!

I'd like to try them out, but all I can find (other than the one I posted) look pretty cheaply made (and the one I posted may just be one of those offered by Warmoth).
