Check out the clip - can't really see the bass that clearly, but it sure looks like a reverse headstock checkerboard standard bass. Anybody see this one before?

Oh, and Jerry Cantrell rules.

FB with reverse Cruise headstock? I saw a picture of that recently. Killer. And yes, Jerry Cantrell does rule. Looking forward to seeing some of his signature Rampage's in the flesh.

Very damned cool - even with the checkerboard graphic!

Are you implying that the checkerboard graphic isn't cool? Is the apocalypse upon us?

I don't think it is a Hamer, but something Jeff built himself. Lots of photos on the Pearl Jam website but no close-ups of the headstock. That being said, the headstock does not look like a Hamer and the body shape resembles one of Jeff's builds from a prior tour.

He grows his own? I did not know that.

Take it easy, Kiz Muse!

If it is a Hamer (it does look like a reverse Cruise headstock more than anything else), I'm pretty sure that they didn't do that graphic.

Ya never know though.

looks a lot like a Mike Lull T-bass.....with reverse headstock and custom paint, he has a lot of lull basses anyway, so why not?

I was thinking that too - Mike Lull is the only maker doing those now with the nickel/chrome parts too for some reason. I thought that his were bolt-ons, but could be mistaken.

I should have said "designed" not built. I was actually thinking of a Modulus bass from a few years ago that Jeff helped design.

After looking at the headstock on the Lull and then reading an interview where Mike Lull stated that Jeff was currently on tour with a prototype Lull T-Bird bass, I'd have to conclude that the bass in question is a Lull.

Aha.

I was kinda thinking to myself "when does he have the time to do that?" & "He must have a workbench on the tour bus!"

To me it looks like a Firebird. I would be surprised it being a Hamer though.

Yes, Mike told me that it's a New Jeff Ament signature model T bass.

Just ran across this old post and thought I'd clarify....

Yeah, the 4-strings are Jeff Ament signature models....but the headstock on the checker one looks like a regular Lull TBird. The Lulls are bolt-on necks, although it is hard to tell with the checker finish.

Ament Signature Thunderbird body style is something like 20 percent larger in size than a normal one.

You can sure see the obvious Hamer influence carry over from Jeff's Hamers......sort of a B12A- sized Thunderbird body with one of Jeff's custom oversized "Bigfoot" headstock Cruisebass necks on it. Besides this Hamer-ish checkerboard one, the Ament Signature lull also comes in a semi-gloss black, similar to his Hamer B12A model (plus semi-sea foam and natural.)

BTW....Jeff also has a 12-string bass version which IS an actual Hamer neck swap onto a TBird body...like the idea Baz and I came up with a few years ago. Jeff told me Mike Lull did his as a bolt-on though, not a set neck.

Too bad Hamer didn't do these. They were trying to come up with a new idea for another bass design before Fender pulled the plug. This would have been perfect, since they already had worked with Ament...AND Nikki Sixx had just left Gibson...AND Petersson is such a TBird freak. Oh well.
