That, along with some other insanely cool pieces, was made for a long time member here. Steve is a great guy and a very generous dude. He also makes one helluva good hot sauce!! LOL!!

BTW Where are these guitars for sale? That Baker is Matte Henderson's old guitar and the neck on it is a replacement neck because the original one was snapped. IIRC Saul Koll did the replacement neck. Cool guitar.

How much is he asking for these?

Sweet Mother of God. That is unbelievable. Look at the way that electronics cavity plate/switch plate matches up.

Very cool to have a picture and signature of the guys that built it.

Steve has a few guitars that are jaw-dropping. A Duotone in particular that is like nothing I've ever seen.

I got to check out one of those in person up at the factory when Steve had sent it back for a tweak. If I recall, he had them refretted, but I don't remember whether that was done at Hamer or elsewhere.

All of the ones I've seen are really works of art.

Phoenix? I was looking at a used Standard for sale at Willcutt's that was made for him. AWESOME! I just didn't have the coin at the time. He sure has fine taste in guitars.

3. Hamer All Quilt SuperPro. Custom guitar by Hamer. Solid, 1 peice quilt body. I begged the previous owner for a year or so before he sold it to me. This is, IMO, one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen. It's got custom one-off Seymoure Duncan's that were designed for this guitar, specifically. This is a real showcase guitar. $6,500. Before I bought this, the previous owner had Hamer refresh the guitar with frets, etc., but this guitar does show signs of play. No dings or nicks, but there are surface scratches and ear on the pickups.

"It took almost a year to find a billet of quilt big enough, light enough, and spectacular enough for this guitar. Once we had it, we knew we'd have to do something extra awesome with it. The matched backplates were the icing on a very delicious cake."

Wasn't this the one Jol showed off during the last Open House? He asked people not to take pictures, because they really wanted to surprise Steve with the control plates. I don't remember him saying anything about how they pulled that off.

$5700 for that Baker is insane. Regardless of whether Saul Koll built the replacement neck, it is *still* a replacement neck and the original was snapped off in a really bad break IIRC.

What do you guys think? Am I off the mark on that or does the fact that the neck was built by Saul actually add to the value?

Interesting...

I'm with you, Rob.

Saul does great work, but it's still a repaired guitar. The fact that it belonged to MH probably DEVALUES it in my opinion.

Bakers have also taken a big hit in this economy. I've seen some (two in particular) that were sold scratching the $4k mark two years ago, completely stalled at well below $2,500 right now. Like anything else, this is a good time to be a buyer with loads of disposable cash.

My opinions on Matte aside, he does know what makes a great sounding guitar. I don't know about devaluing the guitar but it being owned by him certainly doesn't *add* value.

Also, I don't think the original guitar had a Braz neck. I could be wrong on that though.

Anyone want to comment on the asking price for the Hamer?

Also, maybe it is just the angle the pics were taken from, does the body look a lttle longer or if not longer then narrower than a normal Monaco?

It seems a little stretched looking to me, maybe to accomodate the single piece?

sure, the asking price is high compared to what I sold it to Joe for and what it cost new. I can't swing it now so someone here should. Hell take alot less.

25.5" scale, 10 lbs, otherwise the extra inch of girth over an LP is standard for Superpro outlines. Pickups are copies of EVH's paf bridge pu.

Truer words were never spoken.
