murkat Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Today is the day to wrap this up! Nitro cured and ready. Wet dry'd it down to 1500 grit. Then after a 4 stage buff out
murkat Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Sum all the parts together for the build out. Most of them original to the KK. The kahler trem gets the Heavy Duty spring Kit. Big difference in size between the oem and oversize springs. My favorite part of the process. Putting it all together. The Guitar RAWKS! The Super D is what it is, but this one sounds fantastic. Roll down the volume just a lil and things get chewy and beefy.
Bobby Marshall Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 She looks great. I am glad I lost her.
gtone Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 That's one badass mofo, Murks! I just love how your finishes buff/polish out - pure 6-string sex there...
Scottcrud Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The little palm bar... Is that all KK used?
G Man Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 As always, you're work is a joy to behold, and I don't even really like Vs, or single pup guitars, or trems, and yet, she's beautiful.
mail4kev Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Murkat,I love seeing your work! Simply a joy to see such a high level of skill and attention to detail! Amazng!-K
murkat Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks all for the comments. Was a great restoration. It is a tank. I swear the body thickness is oversize. Bobby's vector was here and I measured, the KK is deffinetly thicker (this one). Big old hunk of wood. I believe the palm arm is what came stock on KK's, The twins can verify. Most pics I have seen KK with the vector was with a palm arm. I have had that Super D in my pup bin for over 30 years, I guess it was destiny. sounds damm good in that guitar. Surprised me bigtime. Kiz got the other... Might have one left.... Going to take it with me to the up coming guitar show here in Franklin... Nice conversation piece. Then will offer it up here for the fanbois of
Bobby Marshall Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Did you weigh them? Just curious. Mine seems pretty light.
murkat Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Not on a scale, but the KK got yours beat by a pound or two.
Armitage Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 The girl on the right looks like Rob... in drag...
tomteriffic Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 That palm bar makes a world of difference in the usability of the Kahler. I have one on my old Frankenstrat and it's handy when you need it, you can run it with one or two fingers and it gets the hell out of the way when not needed.
