SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 You sure you're not dumping this stuff due to financial irresponsibility? heh, good one. Well, one could argue that gear hoarding to play around with stuff is irresponsible, but someones gotta keep the economy going.
SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 Hey guys, I'll get back to all the emails and PM's soon. The Cali ( not surpisingly ) is generating a bunch of interest and It will be ebay-ed to be fair to everyone ( and myself! ). Some info on it though... It's actually a "composite" of two Cali's. When I bought the body it came attached with what looked like a Diablo neck. That neck actually developed a hump and became unplayable. I eventually found a boomered Cali neck in great condition ( on a crappy body ) and swapped it over to the flame Cali body. The only pic's I have are the porn pic's of this guitar, which don't show the dings. In general its in great shape, but there is one sizeable ding to the wood which you can't see from the front of the guitar. It's a beauty though. I'm just not playing Floyd guitars at all these days. If I was a collector I'd definately keep it, but I spend enough on gear as it is without trapping myself into becoming a collector. BTW, the first pic is out of date with the pups.... I've put the original EMG's back in it.
ZR Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 >>>>>>>>>. but there is one sizeable ding to the wood which you can't see from the front of the guitar. It's a beauty though.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The guitar is a beauty or the ding to the wood!!
SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 how's that Esprit? I've lusted after that Fender forever! Esprit is a great guitar. This is the top of the line version with the nicest inlays. This ones got some dings and some extra screw holes where somebody installed a GK2 at one point, but it does have the trippy green-burst finish. To the best of my knowledge its an alder chambered body. Built in Japan, killer build quality. Schaller pickups which sound pretty good to me. I know people have replaced them with aftermarket pups but I think you have to do something with the pickup rings because the pickups are just a tad different in size than aftermarket.
SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 >>>>>>>>>.but there is one sizeable ding to the wood which you can't see from the front of the guitar. It's a beauty though.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The guitar is a beauty or the ding to the wood!! nice catch on the crappy grammer. The GUITAR is a beauty, not the ding!
SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 Turbo-Where did you end up deciding to relocate? Houston. Of course, everyones first response is "WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU GO TO HOUSTON!" Especially after Rita. Suffice it to say we will be shifting our housing search to the NW quadrant.
copper blue Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 oh my sweet Cthulu...that's a great looking guitar...One day my benefactor will get me that guitar...*sigh*
Jimbilly Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 email sent on the tri-ac, I've never played one, but those look to be cool.
kurtsstuff Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Do not ebay the cali!!...do not ebay the cali,do not ebay the cali!!

SteveE9C6 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Houston is nice.... especially the NW area. Our oldest son and his family live off of 290 and Barker Cyprus in "Riatta Ranch". I live a couple hours North up past Bryan College Station but gig in the Seally-BCS-Houston triangle. I'll be on the bill with Jack Ingram Oct 15th at Austin County Fair. Lot's of music around here. BTW... shoot me some prices on the shippable stuff. Steve edit... hey, just realized you are a pro photographer. Here is a link to my daughter in law's studio. The incredibly beautiful little girl at the link is my grand daughter. (No bias here )
SteveB Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 edit... hey, just realized you are a pro photographer. Not exactly a pro, just an "advanced amateur". Thanks for all the interest guys, I'll be responding to the emails later this evening....
SteveB Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Prices updated above. I think I got a response off to everyone who emailed or PM'd me. Pic's will be coming shortly, I guess I shouldn't have posted so many for sale at one time! The Californian will go up on ebay because there is so much interest in it. I figure thats the most "fair" way to give everyone who wants a shot at it and figure out a fair price for it.I'll take paypal, cashiers checks, or money orders. No cashiers checks for $10,000 with me returning the difference though.
cmatthes Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 That Cali is pretty damned nice, eh? I don't recall seeing another one in Cherry Sunburst either. Good luck on that one!
SteveB Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 That Cali is pretty damned nice, eh? I don't recall seeing another one in Cherry Sunburst either. Good luck on that one! Yeah, I'm usually not a fan of Cherry Sun, but this one has just a bit of yellow in the middle out to orange, rather than a big old patch of yellow with orange edges. The Flaming is also nice and tight and a more "subtle" type than some of the maple Cali's which I think is cool. Its a hard one to let go, but I'd rather it be out there getting played by somebody. I'm sure I'll regret selling it someday.
clmazza Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I'm interested in the THD Hot Plate... email sent!Chuck
