I love that one!!

What's the proper model name for this one? Phantom?

Other than the Asshat butchery it's in great shape. I'm thinking through the options on restoring it. Optimally, I'd like to bring it back to as close to original spec as possible. Would that be 1 humbucker and 1 volume control?

Very nice catch there Dave!

yes, Phantom.

yes, 1 pup

yes, 1 vol

A crazy zulu GT?

Phantom GT.

Ice pearl and black Zulu (I think).

The give-away is the long cavity cover, they are usually triangular on the A5.

Single volume knob for a single p/u so all should have to do is block those extra holes. Pearl white that is yellowing is a bugger to match, though.

And you need a black Hamer knob.

What's the reasoning for having one of those if there's only one knob?

Regardless, very cool find!

Thanks for the info. So, this is the Glen Tipton model? The dark color is actually a dark metallic blue.

Here's the biggest modification:

HamerPhantom021.JPG

Added neck humbucker cavity and three extra holes. The funny thing is that the cavity is perfectly routed. A clean, professional job. The control holes, on the other hand, are a hack job. Under the plastic plugs, the edges of the holes are rough and chipped in the control cavity. Fortunately, holes are reasonably clean on the outside.

Ice Pearl/Midnight Pearl Zulu! Nice.

I can see it now. You are lucky the scratch-plate wasn't butchered as it hides the rout perfectly.

Jeez, Badger, that sure is purdy. I mean it- I'd consider owning one like (Dibs! if you ever sell it! ) it even with that Kahler!

Yes, I can see it now. Using a small laptop so the shadow is difficult to see.

White duct tape covering the hole in the pickguard? I missed that on the first pics. There is a shop that makes the replacement pickguards...chandler maybe? REALLY cool GT there, I love the color combo.

Wish there was a way to fill the neck pickup rout and leave the pickguard off all together.

It looks great without it.

I agree with Kizanski, it looks great without the guard. Why not put a neck humbucker back in it since the damage is already done? The finish is too unique to refin the guitar so I'd just put a pickup in it, drop in the other knobs where the holes already are, and play the crap out of it. I pulled the hack job pickguard off my zulu scarab I with the same neck joint hole and you hardly notice it. I could make a block and fill it in and all that but I never saw the need. Perfect guitars are for guitar cases.

This is what I would do (seeing as nobody asked).

Jay could do it. You'd never even know the hole was ever there.
