G Man Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Just saw this posting, at a great price I might add. I am just not a Flying V guy, or I would jump on it. If anyone wants it, I would be willing to try and check it out for them.http://westernmass.craigslist.org/msg/3699371467.html
Bobby Marshall Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 If I wasn't out of play, that would be my next project. Okay price if there are no breaks. Too bad it doesn't have the original pickups and pots.
black magic Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Holy cow, I swear POE owned one exactly like that a years ago except for the dice control knobs. He had it painted that color and the pickups added.
Drastion Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 You sure got to be quick around here. Wonder how they made room for the battery compartment and preamp.
Ting Ho Dung Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 You sure got to be quick around here. Wonder how they made room for the battery compartment and preamp. Preamps are in the pickups with EMG. Each model has its own preamp which is how they vary the tone. For instance, the SA has a stronger preamp and the SV has a preamp that makes it sound vintage. Hamer control cavities are large enough to hold a couple batteries. I may change this one to 18 volts. I wrap the batteries in foam to keep them from clanging around in there.
G Man Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 So, I'm an idiot! "Don't play Flying Vs" he says, without taking into consideration it is a 30 year old Hamer. Flying V or not, this thing kicks all sorts of ass. Nice full neck, gotta be under 7 lb.s, pretty fingerboard, and to my surprise, the EMGs sounds pretty darn good. Oh well, next time. This one's heading to FL on the first brown truck out of here tomorrow.
princeofdarkness56 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I am glad it is going to a fellow HFC member. I am sure it will get the proper use that I could not give it. Change the strings and maybe the battery and plug that into a real amp and I gurantee you it will roar. I know some guys here dislike EMGs, but I have zero complaints with them and think they are more versatile than most give credit to. It was a pleasure doing business with both the G Man and Thorn. My apologies to Bill in CT, another HFC member. The other guys were real quick on the trigger. Rest assured that it is going to a good home.
specialk Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 A cool Vector staying in the HFC family. Congrats to all!
diablo175 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Couldn't see pics due to tuning in too late- post was taken down. Help a brotha out here, fellas.
G Man Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Well, I've already boxed it up, so you'll have to wait until Michael gets in down in FL now. Although, there just might be pics of it already floating around here somewhere, as it is an HFC guitar.
princeofdarkness56 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I had to delete the craiglist post. I am still getting calls on it.
