Got this small body acoustic recently. Cedar top with hog body. Tort binding. I love tort. I also love natural wood. The PG is thin enough it shouldn't have any effect on sound/tone. Yes or no?

I like tort on black guitars really. I reaction that shade of tort on the body colour is sfraction insipid.

If I were going to do a pickguard on that I'd go with clear or black. Maybe even a normal tort guard.

Regarding the pictured guard, my vote is absolutely no.

I'm with Ben - that's not the right one for that particular guitar.

I don't mind it but there are better options available - like dark tortoise as mentioned above.

Keep it as is. The PG wouldn't make it any better.

Tortoiseshell seems to clash with that soundhole inlay - nix it, IMO...

Having a second look at it. I think a darker one would fit, if you try to match the color of the fretboard. Otherwise, leave it untouched.

I could go either way on the color (whatever makes you happy), but I think the shape of the overlay is wrong. The curves don't match the body right (it needs more of a waist cut/tighter radiusing).
