specialk Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 “I played a Hamer once, but I didn’t like it. I didn’t have time to set my amp right for it,” Brooks said of his first experience with a Hamer. “Then one night, I was on stage and I broke a string. I said to my son, who’s my guitar technician, `Hand me that Hamer.’ Man, my amp must have been set just right because that guitar kicked out and I just went crazy. People were saying, `What’s wrong with him?’ Twenty years came back. I haven’t put down that guitar since.” -Lonnie Brooks 5 Quote

Murray State University student center was a regular stop for Lonnie Brooks (and son) in the late 80's. That must have been pre-Hamer as he played a Strat most of the time, occasionally switching out for a Les Paul (both wrapped in those Axe-Sack thingies). His son always played a thinline Telecaster. They were always fantastic. 2 Quote

bry4321 Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I was listening to Diamonds and Rust on Priest Unleashed in the East, then started thinking of other remakes/covers, including Hard to Handle by The Black Crowes, and this random thought hit me like a bolt of lightning: isn’t “Black Crow” redundant? Has anyone ever seen a crow that isn’t black? Or are they talking about something other than the bird? Quote
Steve Haynie Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 "Black crow" is like "hot water heater." 3 2 1 Quote
