oloboy Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Being somewhat colorblind, can someone describe jazzburst and how it differs from cherryburst, tobaccoburst, etc?
Feynman Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 As I understand it, courtesy of Sir Veatch...Jazzburst is a burst on both the front and back of the guitar. Cherrybursts add red, which ruins it, unless you happen to like red, as most people do.I may have mixed that up though.
Thundersteel Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Here's my Artist in Jazzburst--maybe that'll help answer your question:
killerteddybear Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I always wondered about diaperburst.Heard about that one a couple times here.
django49 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I always wondered about diaperburst.Heard about that one a couple times here.Anohter composite of yellow and brown?
oloboy Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 So, jazzburst is a fade from yellow to dark brown?
crunchee Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I always wondered about diaperburst. Heard about that one a couple times here. Also makes me wonder why Rickenbacker used the term 'Montezuma Brown' (for years and years!) for their brownburst.
gorch Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Then there was BCRburst somewhere...I had never sorted the whole story out myself either.ETA: just see there's some nice porn in this thread.
oloboy Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 My colorblind eyes are weird but I see red on Thundersteel's photos and dark brown in dgstandard's. Whatever the hell it is, I like it. Thanks for the pics.
Michael_B Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I always wondered about diaperburst. Heard about that one a couple times here. Also makes me wonder why Rickenbacker used the term 'Montezuma Brown' (for years and years!) for their brownburst. Monty Brown is the best color- terrible name. But, did they use it for years and years? I got one in 2004, when it was their "Color of the Year". Here's the guitar:
crunchee Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Sharp-looking 381! IIRC, I think Montezuma Brown has been around off and on, since Rickenbacker's 'Tulip' bodied Combo model guitars of the mid 50's, long before it was 'Color of the Year' in 2003-4. Here's some photos from 1958, the guitar that Toots is playing might be Autumnglo instead, but I don't see any red in the 'burst (well, maybe a little). There does look like some Monty Brown models in the display, though: http://www.rickbeat.com/beatles/beatles.htm
veatch Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Jazzburst - the finish of champions. Over korina or spruce, it looks superb. Not too bad over hawg as well...Edited due to auto-correct woes...
tomteriffic Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Diaperburst. This one is still in the family some place. The drop filled screw holes from an added pickguard are the giveaway.
Jakeboy Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Love me some Jazzburst! My number one is my artist Korina in JB. My avatar. Love how the back of the neck bursts....
