What's your opinion on this Hamer?

im still looking for a Studio and found this locally in Japan: http://www.j-guitar.com/product_id428148.html

Low price and it's been listed for ages. It has a bit of wear and some changed parts and electronics, but I can't see a reason why it's been sat there so long... I've also never seen a Hamer in this colour.

Is it a goo deal or is there something wrong with it that I'm missing here?

BTW, the price comes to around $670. That seems low, but not unheard of for Japan. So, again wondering what's wrong with it?

Can't see the headstock clear enough but looks like a korean made Hamer to me.

No USA after the logo I can see.

Thanks man. It actually is a US one for real. I inquired once in the past and got a photo of the headstock showing the USA logo.

There's just something about this guitar that's wording me out... Maybe it's the colour... That's not a common colour for Hamers is it?

Any info on the changed parts......Pickups, etc? Serial number? OHSC?

As always, it is better if you can actually try before you buy.

Rare darkburst for sure. I've seen a few Mirage II with something similar. Is it mid to late 90s? I love it!

$670 is a great price, but in Japan it's kind of standard. Still a great price for a shop though... But it has been modified and has some dings, which is why I'm uhming and ahing about it. I'm also not a super big fan of the darburst. It might be stunning, or it might not and the shop is too far for me to go there and have a look at it.

Here are some pics the shop owner sent me when I inquired about it in the past.

Sorry, they're pretty big and not sure how to resize them. According to the seller, the electronics have been modified to master tone, balancer, master volume. not sure what else has been modified. Those are the kind of pictures that make decisions really hard, because the dings don't show up properly (what your read on the ones by the headstock? Bad or not?) and the colour is probably off too.

No doubt at all that is a USA model - even without seeing the logo. The imports never got the carves right.

Great price for a late '90s model, and the mods are easily reversible back to stock.

That wouldn't last a day here in the States at that price.

Lol! That's Japan for you. Gotta figure out how much I want it, because Brent's natural is much nicer, but also much more expensive.

I guess I wouldn't have any trouble flipping it at least if I bought, but didn't like it.

That's a REALLY cool (and not very common) dark sunburst. Also, I don't see any evidence of "hameritis" on the finish of that one. Is it a '96 model?

The shop says it's a 95 model. Whilst I'm undecided, if anybody here wants it, give me a shout, I'll be happy to look into buying and sending it on to you. Dunno how much shipping will be though... Probably $100 or so.

I love the top on that one! Amazing colour and flame. Seems like a great price to me for sure. If it was here in Canada and I liked the neck carve I'd grab it for sure!

Congrats on the purchase,That Darkburst is unreal ,amazing top ,i had a 1980 Hamer Sunburt in Darkburst but the back was cherry.

Sometimes I do feel pretty happy living in Japan where the yen is weak and guitars are even cheaper than in the US (nevermind the fact that my salary is also comparatively less...). Gotta stock before I leave!

It seems like it's under the finish. Any idea what this is? Mold? Pizza (more like sushi over here...)?
