gmaslin Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Very good playing, cosmetically 7 of 10, Explorer style, $800 delivered.
cmatthes Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Assuming this is an import? You'll probably want to add pictures or a bit more detail.
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I doubt that will sell with that information
gmaslin Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 I was going to do a video but pics will be easier and yes, it is not an import but an early USA (5 digit) Hamer on the headstock (no XT) and set neck.
kizanski Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 ...it is not an import but an early USA (5 digit) Hamer on the headstock (no XT) and set neck."HAMER" on the headstock, or "HAMER USA" on the headstock? If it has 5 digits in the serial number, it's probably a Blitz, not a Standard.
gmaslin Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 No USA on the headstock, just Hamer and it has a fixed tune-o-matic bridge, not vibrato. What differentiates a Blitz from the Explorer Standard? It has the PAF style flat chrome face pups.
crunchee Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Welcome back! How goes the psychoanalytic business?
gmaslin Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 cruncheeDoes it still hurt after all this time? :smootches:cmatthesThanks for the authoritative reply but there is no made in Korea indication anywhere I can see, please tell me how you have made this determination.

Some members may have forgotten you, but I'm positive you'll remind them.
kizanski Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 cmatthesThanks for the authoritative reply but there is no made in Korea indication anywhere I can see, please tell me how you have made this determination. The lack of a Made in Korea sticker is not nearly as telling as the lack of "USA" on the headstock.
gmaslin Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 As I understand it, the USA only started going on the headstock when the korean production started in earnest. I've been told there was a brief period early on where both models just had "Hamer" on the headstock but I'm open to corrections from the authorities here.
BTMN Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 USA has been on the front of the headstock next to the Hamer logo since the beginning. No usa after the Hamer logo it is an import Korean, Indonesian, Chinese.

carfish7 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 You shall now stand corrected, but toss up a pic for confirmation? Stranger things have happened with refin I guess. Serial # stamped in the wood or a decal/sticker?
serial Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 ALL USA Hamers have 'Hamer USA' on the headstock, starting with the first one.Any USA Explorer with five numbers on the headstock would be a 3+3 headstock Blitz from 1982/3. Any 6 in line Blitz will have 6 digit serials and any Standard would have either four impressed numbers (up until mid-1985) and 6 after 1985.
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 If USA is not on the headstock - it is NOT a USA model! Try posting some pictures

maxpat Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 http://www.vintageguitar.com/1877/the-history-of-hamer-part-four/States some USA Hamers were without USA in logo. I knew I saw it somewhere. I defer to the experts; I thought it was true, but I will take Steve's word over this source.Look toward the bottom of the page, under the chapter headed Logos
