tombo Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 This is a great article and Josh is very deserving of all the accolades he gets. Congrats to Josh and if any of you are thinking of ANY STYLE of replacement pickups (hum, single coils, tele, P90s, P or J bass), do yourself a favor and give Josh your business. You won't regret it and you'll be helping a real musician, who makes pickups the old fashioned way, make a living.(Be sure to check out all three pictures in the article)http://www.mankatofreepress.com/news/bass-in-the-hole-kasota-native-josh-gravelin-keeps-moving/article_65275b8a-7df1-11e5-b1ca-e307836a37eb.html
Northfield Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Awesome article! I'm thrilled to be working with such a talented artist. Josh absolutely rocks! When I talk to him, he sounds like a mad scientist, but man he gets the formulas right.
BTMN Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Nice write up. Reminds of some of what I miss about not living in Minnesota
veatch Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Josh is good people, and he winds great pups. The bucker sized P90 he wound for me is the first one I've had that has sounded good enough to stay in a guitar. The man knows a thing or two, yes sir.
JGravelin Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I really wish they would've gone with the article title I suggested, utilizing one of my 30-or-so nicknames:"Doin' it J-Dog style"I don't like being in the spotlight. I just want to do good work.
Hamerica Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I really wish they would've gone with the article title I suggested, utilizing one of my 30-or-so nicknames: "Doin' it J-Dog style" I don't like being in the spotlight. I just want to do good work. Well your in the spotlight here pal! Great short read and the mans pickups in the Ultimate are all of that and a bag of chips. As soon as I can get a little more time, I will update the tone report for "Jack Bauer". I owe it to Northfield and hertzsogud whoever those guys are! best wishes, Hamerica
ptm1diver Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Josh is first rate at both pickups and being a friend. I've ordered several sets of his pickups and have spoken with him many times about instruments, music, pickups etc. I hear he makes great cheese, so I guess he could also be a HeadCheese maker and MasterWinder of pickups, in addition to being a great person, musician and friend. Many, many great years to you my friend. Always keep in touch wherever your travels take you.
kenjones Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Josh - After reading the article I'm guessing that you know Darin Murphy? He's an old friend of mine from when he lived in Houston.
Jakeboy Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 What a great article! It focused on all the right things!Beatles, Cream, Butter.....you chose well.My Shlabotniks Rock!
hamerhead Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Shut up already you guys! You keep up with all the praise and his head will grow, then his prices will grow, then his company will grow, then he'll farm out to China, then we'll all be like 'oh that Josh thinks he's all that, what a jerk, who does he think he is? Seymour Duncan?, you get the new iPhone?, I need a double mocha frappuccino'............
hamerhead Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Kidding aside, Josh deserves any and all of the accolades he recieves. I'm not sure how he finds enough hours in a day to answer emails, talk on the phone, surf and field questions on guitar sites, plus actually get out and play, all while building monster pickups. It's pretty incredible.Thank you, sir.
Sugartune Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Echo, echo, echo....ocho veces.Killer dude, killer pickups.
scottcald Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Very cool article. It's always neat to find out a little bit about folks in the digital world here.
