tommy p Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 The ad shows zero proof that it was even made for Cliff, which does seem ridiculous. Maybe the seller meant to say Tom Petersson in his "embellishment". That would at least seem possible.

Actually the headstock shot shows the "Cliff Williams" connection. you have to scroll further through the pics Of course maybe it was made for Cliff Richards and Hamer was having a bad day...... Peter I rather have the Good doctors bass instead.....

mc2 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I was gonna say.....Dr Andrew owns the Cliff Williams 12ver, no?Guess Cliff could've had the short-scale orignally and then decided to change to a longscale Chap 12ver.....and then broke it. He is definitely known to have owned and played a Hamer B12S, so the Chap 12 isn't much of a stretch to believe.The name on headstock over a Stadium logo, coupled with a couple of custom boomers inlays would make sense on an artist 12ver.I could see how a 12ver might work in AC/DC despite the two guitars. Williams has fairly simple bass lines. Might sound OK on some tunes live.I prefer the Hamer bass necks without the volutes....but they are a little more fragile that the beefier volute ones. I don't know if I would want one with a busted headstock. That is a lot of strng tension to trust to some glue.

He had a Hamer Chaparral with a custom inlay of a girl on the fretboard around the time of the Blow Up Your Video tour or maybe one or two years later.

mc2 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Seems crazy for a 12ver with a broken headstock IMO.....unless Williams goes crazy and puts a hit out to kill someone.....oh wait, that's what AC/DC drummers do.Still a cool wall hanger for someone's AC/DC mancave. I guess a broken Nikki Sixx bass would fetch the same price from a Motley Crue fanatic...and a smashed Entwistle bass would likely go for MUCH more, so I get it.....and I'd be lying if I said I've never bought a cool smashed up guitar.
