Yeah, I think red could work with that too. Then again I like a red top. But them again that is as close to Earthen Maple as you can get and my favorite Shishkov so far was red. Pick what you like and it is going to work!
albacore Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 Time to show my update, to keep up with my batch-mates. I kept quiet as people discussed colour for #0046, as Mike and I were still working on it, but folks were on the right track with all the talk of red. In my mind this is Berry Burst and the final colour suggestion was based on some cranberry jelly Nicky made. At first I was describing it in terms of wine and stuff, and Mike was concerned this would be too dark for that crazy quilt - not a problem as I wanted to get a real brightness to, to get a real pop with the light. In the end this is essentially trans red with a subtle burst. Mike thinks he's captured the colour pretty well in these snaps, and you can imagine how happy I am with the effect. The paint job and burst goes to the back and neck, so no chance of a clash with the natural mahogony. Enjoy!
albacore Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Another little twist. Apparently Gary was concerned after painting up the body that the streaks of brown within the ebony of the headstock were potentially clashing, so he gave the headstock a lick of the red too. Very variable depending on the light, very cool too!

BTMN Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Speaking of looking SWEET! That is beautiful so far. Brentrocks is right, TR28 looks great in person, but really hard to capture the flamey goodness in the Red.
atomicwash Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 That headstock could be a body finish. Holy crap!
stonge Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Digital cameras never seem to do well with red finishes for some reason, but if it looks that good in photos it's going to be amazing in person. The red streaks in the headstock are just stunning. The artistry of Mike and Gary has been spectacular on every instrument so far. I can't wait to see how they continue to build on their previous achievements. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does.
albacore Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 It's on its way! In Nottingham within a fortnight. Here is the teaser:
Jakeboy Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Oh hell.....the headstock alone is mesmerizing! Beautiful Ultimate in every way. Congrats!
albacore Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 At last, 0046 has arrived!!! I actually got it a week ago, but have been waiting for my son to get back from abroad so I could use his camera. It's beautiful - I will let the pics speak for themselves.
