Chambered guitars are usually "closed" but with hollow areas under the top. Hollow guitars are just that: hollow with F-holes. Semi-hollow guitars have F-holes and are usually solid down the center of the guitar. Those are my definitions, anyway.

G Man Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I still argue this is chambered and not a semi-hollow with a center block. If you were to see the guitar without the spruce cap I'm guessing you would see routed out voids and not just one big route w/center. block, hence chambered and not semi-hollow.
G Man Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Sorry bud, but if you had an ES335 and an ES175, then you would also have hollow and semi-hollow guitars, for now, chambered. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
cmatthes Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 To me, “chambered” is a solidbody that has routed out channels or cavities. A “Hollowbody” is constructed as a back, sides and top. A “Semihollow” is typically a hollowbody with a center block, but can also be constructed as a hollowed out back with supporting structures for the top and hardware.

I"m totally screwed now, I thought my artist and newport covered the semi and hollow body guitars and my Jarret covered the chambered. Now you are saying I friggin have four chambered guitars? I mean WTF! How about these f-holes…?

Webster or Wiki should use this wording.

HSB0531 Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 I've always found it amazing how Mike can take a grinder and carve out those curves, then hand sand them to stunning perfection. How does one learn to do that, and then raise it to an artform?
hamerhead Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 I think the grinder is just part of him, like an extra appendage he was born with.
