scottcald Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 That looks fabulous. So, what had happened initially? What were the marks on the side of the neck? Was it weather related or some other gremlin? Yeah, I wouldn't be spending any time worrying about the deck with that guitar around.

What in the world caused that finish crackling on the neck? We are all rejoicing with you ! No idea. Probably a combination of things. It's all good now so it doesn't really matter! If you can, compare the string tension to some other common guitars. The reason I ask is my guitar (#0076) will be the same configuration. I have an Ian Anderson w/ Les Paul scale w/ a stop-tailpiece and it's really great. Anxious to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks. I have one other Gibson-scale guitar with a stop-tuna set up (an LP Standard) and the tension feels the same, but I do the wrap-over-the-tailpiece thing so that's probably why. That is what you were asking, right? lol 19 hours ago, sonic1974 said: Chris, any possibility of audio clips? The combination of unseasonably beautiful weather and my wedding anniversary kept me from spending too much time in the man cave this weekend but I'll do some sort of video soon. The guitar definitely sounds great though! The Gravelins in the DC Custom are lower output than the set I have in that Roadhouse Pinecaster.

(I've seen hundreds of shipped guitars where I work) I happens during shipping. Imagine the box where standing up on end and it fell flat forwards or backwards. This is the result. It does not matter how much reinforcement is in the case, if it's tuned up to pitch or half tuned or even without strings. Not something you want to think about when it's your guitar, but thousands of guitars are shipped every day and the damage is actually pretty minimal of you look at the numbers. Oh and yes, that guitar is stunningly amazing!!!!

I got a gallon of this stuff from Home Depot and it did wonders. Then I coated it with Thompson's Water Seal. Chlorine bleach compromises everything it touches so I'd recommend not using that. I'd also not recommend a pressure washer as it will rip off the top skin of your deck and it will only get worse very quickly. http://www.homedepot.com/p/M-1-1-gal-Deck-and-Roof-Cleaner-DR1G/100196451

Payback for the rivers thread? Anywho, the label shows a pressure water. How did you apply it? With a roller?

With a roller? I wouldn't use a pressure washer on your deck. I applied it with a pump sprayer, waited a while and then rinsed with a regular garden hose with a nozzle on "jet" setting. There isn't enough pressure to damage your wood that way. Then apply the water seal with a throw away pump sprayer or roller, brush, whatever. Reapply the water seal within a month and it should be good for a year. Wood used to be cheap. These days it isn't so just passing along what I've learned. After: Before:
hamerhead Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 It'll never get the ugly green off there, though.
ArnieZ Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I price out that stuff for my deck, a few years ago. the material alone was 8K ArnieZ

Steve Haynie Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 The synthetic stuff is getting used in some parks to replace wood on walkways. Yeah, someone is spending government money, but the decking should last longer.
