atomicwash Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'm looking for best value & protection in a bass gig bag. Maybe $50 to $150 range. Suggestions? Thanks!
G Man Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Its at the top of your price point and the bottom of their offerings, but the Mono Guitar Sleeve would fit the bill, of more protection is needed, their Vertigo line is the answer, although quite a bit out of your price point. http://monocreators.com/guitar-bass-cases/
RichF Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'll second the Mono Sleeve. Good protection without too much bulk.
Studio Custom Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I have a Mooridian for 30 years, still works perfectly.
Hamer95USA Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I recommend the Pro Tec Contego gig bag. I've been using one for my guitars and like the design, construction, and features of my gig bag. Guitar George
killerteddybear Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I have a Mono, a bit expensive but I have no longer have concerns about the instrument in it.
hamerhead Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I recommend a polyfoam rigid bag like this: http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/165609-SKB-Cases-1SKB-SC44 or http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/252630-On-Stage-Stands-GPCB5550 or http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/road-runner-polyfoam-bass-guitar-case?cntry=us&source=3WWRWXGP&gclid=CjwKEAiAgavBBRCA7ZbggrLSkUcSJACWDexAVprUzY-HpJd635NZrgQcy1D6KtDnWifllRpBJlNv6xoCdpLw_wcB&kwid=productads-adid^156720407649-device^c-plaid^57309151387-sku^541149000000000@ADL4MF-adType^PLA They're light like a bag, but protect like a hard case. Perfect for gigging. The Roadrunner bag (with the solid handle) is very nice. If you go to Full Compass, ask for Ron.
scottcald Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I have one of the SKB foam cases. I like it.
stonge Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I just picked up 5 Fender P/J bass gig bags for $75 shipped from the thestratosphere on ebay. I'm not sure how good these are, but I picked up a 5 pack of Fender guitar gig bags for $100 shipped last month and those were decent enough (i think those were the same bag my Charvel San Dimas was shipped in) if you handle your own gear and are reasonably careful. I just have too many guitars and basses without cases and needed something to stash them away in. FWIW, some of the Indonesian Squier Teles are actually pretty decent guitars with a little adjustment and tweaking and a $20 Fender bag is good enough to carry them around in. Thestratosphere charges the same shipping for 5 gig bags as a single, so it's worth keeping an eye out for a multi-pack if you can use a few. Guess they have to move the gig bags from all the gear they part out. No complaints here - nice price and good enough for what I need.

These are the guitar gig bags that I received - pretty decent imho. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LOT-5-Fender-Deluxe-Padded-Strat-Tele-GIG-BAGS-Guitar-Stratocaster-/142185137060?hash=item211ae503a4 There are bass guitar gig bag lots under 'completed auctions' that are the ones that I received.
cmatthes Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I snagged a MONOCase for my basses. Great protection, lightweight and I believe I paid $99 on sale from CMI for it.
tomteriffic Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Just wondering if Reunion Blues is still in business. But those were pretty spendy for the leather ones. Session bassists I knew back when dragged their basses from pillar to post in those things.
atomicwash Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 Hey guys, Thanks for the suggestions. I went with a Mono M80 and with a holiday discount, it came in under $150 with free shipping. We haven't gigged with it yet, but it seems like it will be perfect for local shows. Cheers, Dan
G Man Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I have since grabbed a Mono Vertigo for my bass. With a 20% off come back to MF coupon, and they were blowing out the grey ones, I paid $175. Pretty good deal on a top of the line gig bag. And I think my bass could probably survive a fall better than I could at this point.
django49 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Update......Mono is offering seasonal deals on direct sales. Could be a good opportunity, esp if you like the "freebies" like the "Tick". I COULD use a second Tick, but have a hard time justifying another gig bag, The "dual bag" looks interesting, but after zeroing in on guitars that "do it all" my need for hauling two guitars (like a "G" and "F" type) off to a play date is minimal. http://monocreators.com/winter-holideals/
