Won't be going down the vinyl rabbit hole at this stage of my life, but being a Detroit native I'm proud to own a Shinola Brakeman watch. A fine piece of kit indeed.

Cool company IMO.

Is that where the expression came from, the company? (I mean, not invented by the company, but in reference to the company.)

There are some really good turntable options at $2500.  A watch company that also brands bicycles, purses, clothing, jewelry, etc, has an uphill climb at that price.

Detroit native myself, hence the interest. Don't see myself spending that kind of $ on a turntable, have 2 I hardly use!

Well the former president of the Detroit Lions was recently appointed CEO, so if anyone can make poor decisions to send an operation into the toilet, it's him.

I'd be careful about investing in a company like that......You could get wiped out.

It was a now-defunct brand of shoe polish, the saying's been around at least since World War II, says Wikipedia.  I know I've heard and used the expression since forever:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinola

Wikipedia calls it a 'lifestyle brand', which means 'not inexpensive', IMO.  <_<
