1987 Hamer Chaparral

Question

I'm trying to help a friend price this guitar. Even though I'm a child of the 80's, was never into these so I promised her I'd reach out for some help as she is looking to sell. I believe its a 1987 and I had it in my hands the other day and it is stupid clean. The Floyd Rose looks like its doing a wheelie but it was still in tune after years of being in its case. I asked over on The Gear Page and they suggested I try here.

Yes, it's a 1987.

Value-wise, people with more knowledge than me about the market for these types of guitars should be along at some point to tell you $350. 🤑 (Obviously, it's more than that, but I really have no clue.)

It does look to be in really nice condition. GLWTS.

Welcome to the HFC, Deputy Dog! Feel free to stick around, it's a great place.

If that Chap is as clean as you say, I think you could get $1200 - $1500.

The $350 thing is a running joke, back to a time when you could score a killer guitar for cheap.

It's an '87 Chapparal in Pink Pearl - super cool, and looks to be in nice shape with original case.  I'd agree that $1,500-$1,700 would be the target for a sale.  You might pull more posting on eBay with lots of great pics if the person looking for one of those is actively in the market.

I sold a blue '87 just like this one for $1500 + shipping on this forum two months ago.

Thats good to know.  I wonder if the pearl pink will have a positive or negative impact on the value?

No impact at all. That Chap has it all. I'd buy it.

Rare color usually =

The color is definitely not a detriment. It is missing the original OBL humbucker though, which won't affect it too much either.

The color is right for the year that Chaparral was made.  Think of it like spandex and big hair.  Today the spandex is out.  The hair is gone, short, or dyed.  That pink Chaparral still rocks.

Who snagged this one? Just curious...

It did sell almost instantly to a buyer who reached out before I was able to post ads anywhere.  2k shipped to Nashville for all you inquiring minds.
