Cboss Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 That is a really cool guitar.. does anyone know what the pickups would have been in that? Super distortions possibly?

No clue on weight, the ad does not say.
Cboss Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Are they neck heavy with that giant Dean thing on the end?

I had to look up butterface lol.. absolutely, I agree with you, can't imagine where that bizarre design came from; in an interview I seem to remember him saying he wanted the guitar to be instantly recognizable as a Dean from the audience, and that headstock certainly does it.. this particular guitar is the first Dean that that headstock isn't an automatic hard pass for me for some reason
JGale Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Is there not a Robin guitar with a similar headstock?

Dean designed the headstock to mirror the Flying V body shape:

HSB0531 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 An old friend of mine bought a brand new 1980 Left handed Dean Z in some sort of sunburst blue, that glowed under the sage lights. He custom ordered it....keep in mind that he's a lefty player. Killer guitar, and he still regrets selling it. The other guitarist in the band eventually bought a new Dean Cadillac and a BC Rich Mockingbird. So, at the time, it was a Dean / Hamer / BC Rich lineup. Not too shabby.
