Disturber Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I hate AI. It's not fun. It delutes the value of art, pictures, literature, music etc. 15 years from now kids won't care about history anymore. Or they won't know what was real or AI created. History will be totally fucked up. Who will bother to write original music anymore. 1 3 Quote

Didn't realize I would strike a nerve about technology, creativity and originality. Oh well, I thought it was amusing. 2 Quote

Poke him and say "I think my Epiphone is great!" If he throws a fit, then he's from TGP. All joking aside, I came across that video a week or so ago. My kids and I laughed like hell. It was fun. There's also some real good that can come from it. One of my favorite artists is Randy Travis. He had a massive stroke in 2013, but now with this tech, "he" was able to sing again, and I'm not going to lie, it was pretty amazing to hear "him" sing again, even if it wasn't really him. 3 Quote

crunchee Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Taking a cue from the OP, here's the latest in stage wardrobe...and yes, it's an actual advertisement currently making the rounds on US cable TV, I shit you not: Men's Liberty TV Spot, 'The Guitarists' - iSpot.tv 1 Quote

The song is detailing the travails of a man who failed to make it to the facilities and has consequently filled his trousers. The woes of carrying about in underpinnings filled with excrement surely out measure any hesitance to embrace artificially generated expressions of said travails. Surely! The song expresses an uncomfortable and awkward social situation not to mention, practically, a biohazard. Certainly not a stretch for a human-programmed machine to have the capability of grasping the sheer existential horror. 2 Quote

velorush Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I sense a theme. Lemme see if I got this straight: AI is suddenly a reality. Certain human proclivities are unavoidable in AI, as it is programmed by humans. AI's efforts are morphing toward potty humor. Makes sense to me. I now understand what Elon et. al. were so worried about... 1 1 1 Quote
tommy p Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 The music was OK but the verses were just streams of words with no real phrasing or rhyming. I'm sure it was supposed to be funny, but I didn't care for that at all. Quote

Jakeboy Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 AI is simply not human by definition. It may be hilarious, it may actually be well-written or played, but it’s fake. It is artificial. Taking the human creativity out of it while acknowledging that humans programmed the algorithms doesn’t make it better for me. There are enough funny old blues records from the 20s and 30s to listen to that are at least performed by real human beings. There is enough artificiality in society already. I don’t want it in my music too, inasmuch as I can avoid it. But I am prolly in the minority. When musicians embrace AI, then music is in trouble. Rant over. Get off my lawn. 1 1 1 Quote

velorush Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Incontinence? Pfffffft. P-Funk (Gary Shider) had that covered in the seventies! 2 Quote

I guess I could understand all the furor over this if it was intended to be anything but a bit of harmless joking around. No one's presenting this as a viable, comparable bit of soul music. There's zero danger of these gag songs pushing someone out of being able to create legit music or competing against the organic, real McCoy stuff of that era. Taken in the correct context, it's harmless enough. But I respect that you might not find the scatological humor all that amusing. For this permanent adolescent, bathroom humor will always be funny. Now I'ma poop on your lawn. Nyah nyah nyah. 3 Quote
