hectorp Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I've never played one, but young C Fred swears by his and Disturber speaks very highly of his too.If you have the patience and inclination, tell why you like it.
MCChris Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Elduave and Pesocaster are the other resident SuperPro fans. You really have to play one to understand, but basically it's a matter of the three primary ingredients (oversized chambered body, stock pickup choice, Fender scale length) simply working together extremely well.
pesocaster Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Because they fucking rule./thread+1really they are the best of all worlds..... Fender scale, LP and 335 tones for days..... I get some serious strat as well with my (unpopular to some) middle pickup.... Light weight.... and they look too cool for school.....
django49 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I have a hard time choosing between the SuperPro (here, with factory piezo) and a Monaco Elite (chambered). The former has the combination of longer scale and all. That Elite has upgraded pickups (WCR Godwoods) and they really sing (a little better than the stock pickups in the SuperPro). But the "acoustic" edge to the SuperPro swings things back in its favor. One of these days I should try the other pickups in the SuperPro.......Then it might be the clear winner.....
Disturber Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Yes, with a good set of paf pups you will get a guitar that is airy in sound with lots of bite, and yet that classic LP tone in the bottom. It cuts through the mix and sounds sublime in a band situation. I have never, unfortunately, tried the stock pups as they were gone when I bought mine - but I have heard they are a good match too. My Superpro feels like a great new guitar, but sounds like a classic vintage Hamer with the pair of 70s Dimarzio's I have in it. edit cause this post needs a pic, and edit again as I have found the perfect bridge pup now. The Fender EVH Frankenstrat humbucker, wound by Seymour Duncan. Apparently it's similar to the Custom Custom, so it would really make a lot of sense that Hamer put that as stock in the Super Pro. The Frankenstrat is supposed to be livelier with more overtones etc. I dunno... but it is a killer paf type of pickup, albeit with a hotter output on paper. In reality it does not feel hot. It just responds really well with the semi hollow construction and the longer scale. Best bridge pickup I have had in the Super Pro so far.
bubs_42 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 SuperPros are pretty sweet. Even my dog digs 'em. SO Glad you like that one. What a great guitar, I only moved it make sure EL's Zandard Stayed in the family. I miss that one, very much its own vibe.
duncans Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Love mine, doesn't seem to matter what type of amp I play it thru.
duncans Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Oh man! I want that one back!I'll keep that in mind if I ever get rid of it.But rest assured, it won't be anytime soon!
kizanski Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I'll keep that in mind if I ever get rid of it.But rest assured, it won't be anytime soon! Pretty much what I told NielZ, who sold me this. One of my top three favorite guitars and on the "never" sell pile. I put "never" in quotes because there is no such thing, but things would have to get really bad for me to sell it.
sirDaniel Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Love mine, doesn't seem to matter what type of amp I play it thru. I played this one and was totally blown away and a fan ever since. It's got IT
fractal Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I swear I've looked at this guitar since 2004 and wanted it periodically since.
gorch Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I didn't know Hamer offer construction kits. Super guitars btw. Lets me think a comparison to the Newport.
Disturber Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 What is this? A Super Pro Ultimate? Give us the details...?
