TA-DA!!!! My custom order is done. This is a dream come true, something I had always had in mind and never had the chance to get it built -had previously contacted RS Guitars and they wouldn't do it. But thanks to gorch here, I finally found the right builder to make me this, exactly to my specs -chunky neck and 24.75" scale included. Please, meet my Scheithauer Mayday-V: Now it's done, ready to get shipped to me. But I guess she will spend some few weeks at gorch's in Germany first -still have to arrange this with him, as he seems now not very sure about it. In any case, I can't wait to have it in my hands!

After 2 years....... Set neck, killer player....balanced and just plain HELLYEAH. This guitar represents a cubic shit ton of called in favors, and it was worth it. I want it.

Thank you. Now it's built already, it looks easy; but it took me several iterations on paper to steer this project to where I wanted it to go. I wanted it to remain as loyal as possible to the original RS, with a vintage edge and lot of class, but I also wanted a Vee. As I don't like cheesy metal shapes nor "over-pointy" stuff, I opted for the classic 58 V. I think I completely got it when I decided to go with rounder pickguard corners and with the tremolo plate exactly like in the RS. I'm very proud of this guitar and have no words to thank the builder, Ronny, who is a caring, skilled, knowledgeable and open-minded person, and who also had to deal with my caprices at every single level -and also contributed with his more than valuable input and experience, of course. So, as he has materialized my vision 100% to my expectations, I will never be able to pay him for that, in spite of what I paid him for his job. If this thing plays as good as it looks, I'll consider my guitar-related dreams realized. I thought the same at first, but now I think it's hard to tell how big is that market. At least it's a quite risky move going that path, for sure... but who knows anyway?

I saw a reddish V-shaped guitar and immediately did this......... I then realised exactly what it was and did this........ Only you, buddy - only you. It's REALLY cool.

Why hurt the value?

Beautiful - congrats to you and kudos to Greg for helping it happen. When you get bored with it, just remember who offered you $350 first. This is now committed in writing......

Let me guess. He is going to put a wraptail bridge on it. Just HOW did you get any kind of checkerboard finish at all?

Congrats. I like everything about it, (except for that under arm that is air sprayed on the front. They should have stayed with just the checker board pattern....)

To my personal taste the original RS shape today appears quite old fashioned. Instead of ever copying a vintage shape a clever facelift would sometimes do the trick. That's what the big companies actually do, eventually, to re-publish the old shapes in even more expensive limited series.

That right there is a persuasive blend of clever and really well done! Congrats! Makes me think there'd be a market for May-ified versions of familiar guit shapes...
