  1. I can see the appeal to having a guitar store take the shipping risks but here is my thought process. First a HFC member has a chance to purchase the guitar. Those LP type cases are easier to ship. FedEx Offers Pack and Ship for guitars of that size. They provide a box and can professional pack the guitar for around $50. Add the insurance from Fedex of the sale and it brings you to around $125-$175 for shipping, maybe $40 more. Open a free Fedex account and it is less. You can pass the shipping onto the buyer and if FedEx packed it and there is a shipping issue, which I've never had using this method, insurance claim should be easier to collect as they packed it. There maybe options from repair to total reimbursement. I don't feel the same about UPS. I would only ship FedEx. Many of the guitars I've purchased I've supplied the shipping label and asked the seller to use the FedEx Pack and Ship method and either offered my account number or provided funds after it is packed. The rectangle cases can be a different animal. If it's not a fitted case extra packing material is required to keep the points protected and guitar in place. Trogly offers a "How To" video. https://youtu.be/FQzkfeOVHlA Again I'm just trying to help fellow HFCers keep more money for their treasures and a chance for other HFCers to purchase here instead of scanning all the music stores and missing a chance at a stunning guitar. I'm not berating anyone's choice of how they sell their guitar. I loved both the Quilt Tops. If a HFCer purchased a quilt top and want sell in the future, please reach out. I apologize for any misspelled words, any poor use of the English language. I'm typing on my phone at 4:00 am and cannot copy and paste into Word to help me. Provenance vs Providence lesson learned. 2. Seriously, every time I ship a guitar I sell I pretty much need to have a few drinks.

  4. I thought that the 345 used in that movie was on loan from Norm's?

  5. I wonder if they have the guitar, and this is all hype-building.

  6. It's always easier to let someone else do the packing, shipping and worrying.

  7. It all makes sense, logically. Sometimes the real world differs. I have sold and shipped dozens of guitars, more through this site than otherwise. I do apparently know how to pack and ship things properly. Very few problems over the years. But..... One issue I had with damage at UPS WAS covered by the shop. Seemingly because I went directly to the owner of the local store front (after paying their inflated over the counter cost) and she intervened. It was a really minor thing but the buyer insisted on sending it back. (BTW, I sold it later here WITH FULL DISCLOSURE at a comparable price). Very nice Super Pro!) Two other cases involved FedEx and paid through my account there. And, of course, they require you to buy insurance.....One was an HFC buyer and there was actual damage enroute. The other was to another buyer (Not HFC!) who was way less than honest about what happened. In each case, there was documentation (including from the original builder of the guitars) and repeated assurances of how much they valued my business. They strung me along for as much as 3 months before finally denying any responsibility. I dunno, maybe you need to prove it was THEIR truck's tire prints on the box or something. I ultimately was made whole by my separate insurance, but only after many wasted hours and final thumbs down from FedEx. Many of those hours waiting for "customer service" to pick up the phone and reassure me that they loved me). To cap it off, when I inquired at their storefront as to whether it would make a difference if I paid THEM to pack it with all their own new packaging. In essence, I was told their MO would still be to deny the claim....."And we have lawyers on call to beat you up if you appeal". IN so many words, of course...... I reckon I have several guitars, not all Hamers, that would get some strong interest here should I post them. There IS a reason why I don't. Some are posted locally. At least a couple of repeat buyers are willing to periodically drive hundreds of miles (each way) because "I know what you got!". But they do not get sold as fast..... Very hard for me to fault Conor on this one! I just may chat with this shop myself.

  8. Why…why it’s like a Sears catalog page from that era. Which era is this anyway?

  9. I’ve been young and God knows I’ve been stupid, but I’ve never been that young and stupid. In fact, when I first saw that album cover, I was both, and even then I cringed.

  11. (I’ve told this story here before, so apologies for the redundancy.) Ugh! Appx 20yrs ago I saw Uli open for MSG in Concord, CA. He was touring his. “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons”, release. After his set he went to the merch table to meet with the fans. I was the last to the table. He was very gracious, and fielded all of my fanboi questions about his 70s gear. I brought along a very nice Carerre Records import CD of “Virgin Killer”/“In Trance” to be signed. Uli flipped thru the liner notes/photos and chanced upon the original, “VK”, cover shot. He frowned and looked totally mortified and shrugged, “ah, well. We were young and stupid then.” (BTW, he signed the cover of, “In Trance.”)

  12. I agreed that this is the first go-to for me if I were to sell a Hamer, especially nice ones that are harder to come by, like these two studios. However, I can also see the advantage of what seems to be consignment and selling through a shop, which avoids any hassle with shipping and other issues. Folks on here had a shot with this PSA post, and they were up for longer than I thought they would be.
