Value of the most expensive guitar you own?
LordOfTheThighs replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
My '02 R8 would probably fetch >$2500. (I'd hope) I'd be curious as to how much the Indigo Blue Standard, I used to have, sold for as a new instrument. I'm sure it wasn't cheap. -

I met Joe Perry one night after a show in a club in Cincinnati. The Joe Perry Project was touring for it's 3rd album, Once A Rocker. The band nearing the end of its life. I bought a a band jersey, and asked the gorilla who was guarding the backstage door, if he could get Joe to sign it for me. He came back with it autographed. I was thrilled. A short while later, after 90% of the crowd had left, Joe came out with a couple a chicks, and was walking in our direction. So I thought "This is my only chance the meet da man". So I stood up, as he walked by our end of the bar, and blabbed some incoherent idol worship crap at him. He was cool, talked for a few seconds, thanked me for coming to the show, and moved on. Really a big moment for a big Aerosmith fan. Now if I'd meet McCartney, or Page, or Angus, or Tipton / Downing, etc, I'd just bust. But I think McCartney would bring me to tears. He's such a HUGE cog in the rock machine, and his music is timeless. -

OK ... I've went back on my newly listed F/S 2005 Dean Z Time Capsuleand removed ALL offending terms, comments, cliche selling jargon, and generally over-used guitar marketing B.S. Although, my weak attempt at pitching said guitar may contain a few borderline hyperboles. Now ... somebody buy the fuggin thing! -
Your first Hamer - post pics!

I've got that same catalog, somewhere in the "archives", (my personal giant stack of crap, accumulated over a generation). -
I'd start selling these for starters. (Of course you'd piss Nielsen off, by selling them.)

Cheap Trick and Aerosmith last night in KC...

Thats sacrilegious bullsh!t. GYW is one third of the Holy Aerosmith Trinity canon. And DTL pulls a big nada, for the show?! Sounds like Smiff needs a good talking to. Oh yeah ... sounds like a RAWKING good time! I'd still like to catch the show. 2 awesome bands on the same bill. -
I've been single coils for the past couple of years. I too was a "Strat-Hater". But I never really played one that I could jell with, until I picked up my CS '69. Big honking neck, and 'CS 69 pups. It really hit the sound I always had in my head, that a Strat should sound like. (I'd like to modify the bridge pup, so I can control the tone on it, but I want to keep the guitar intact without creating any new solder joints. Maybe I could make some connections by a non-intrusive means.) Then I put together my PartsOcaster, with a CS body, '69 pups, (with a bridge tone control), and Warmoth Fatback neck. Once again I hit on another Strat that I really like. I find myself playing the PartsOcaster more than any of my other guitars. I think for me, I find myself playing a lot less mid - high gain stuff nowadays, and the Strat fits my sonic needs a bit more. BUT I still loves me some humbuckers.

It never ceases to amaze me how KISS detractors always have to leap at a thread, and profess their hatred for them. OR their amazement at how 4 no talent hacks fooled multitudes of deluded music fans for almost 40 years, with their smoke and mirrors. Yeah ... just my opinion, also. -

I watched it while it was being streamed live. I thought it RAWKED. They closed with Deuce, played Got To Choose, and Strutter. Good stuff. -
KISS ALIVE! is one the best albums, ever, imo. (My personal all time fav by anybody) If someone wanted to get a real feel of what they are, the that's the one. Yeah, it some tweaks in the studio. But if anyone thinks that all other live albums are straight off the tape, and onto vinyl, then they may need to check into it. Destroyer is a great album. KISS delves into it heavily for their shows. There really isn't a weak track on it. Rock And Roll Over is my fav KISS studio album. Take Me ... probably my fav KISS song. Ace's solo album ... a great hard rawk album. Paul's solo album, is just a hair behind it. As Revenge was mentioned, I was never a big fan of it. Unholy and I Just Wanna are classic KISS, tho. I've seen KISS about 20 some odd times, since 1977. Always been my favorite band, old school KISS that is. I caught the body of Paul's broken Gibson Sonex at a Creatures Of The Night Tour concert. An Eric Carr drumstick on their Asylum Tour. A few picks from various tours. I never left a KISS show, and felt like I got jipped. On the other hand,I seen the Deep Purple reunion show, in the mid 80's, and wanted my money back. Blackmore stood there the whole night, with his thumb in his ass. A KISS show ... they always play at 100%. I love Zep, Aerosmith, Priest, Sab, AC/DC, Beatles, etc. But KISS always pushed my buttons in the right way.

I'm liking the song "Long Way Down". I really dig structure of the song. I know what I like, but am having a hard time articulating it. (example :30 - :50 in the song, repeats through the song) To me, the best song I've heard from KISS since some stuff of "Psycho Circus". Long Way Down

The Darkness - Hot Cakes in the house
LordOfTheThighs replied to gorch's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Thanks for posting the new songs. I've been anxiously waiting for their new release. Keep Me Hanging On: Its cool when a song instantly sounds great on the first listen. Street Spirit: Sounds good. After a few more listens, probably get even better. They write some of best hooks and catchy lyrics. And yes ... The Darkness Rawks! Some pics of the cover photo shoot. MMmmmm ... Hot Cakes _____________________________________________________________________________________ Alrighty Then. I've listened to the whole CD now, a couple of times thru. I'm really impressed. One Way Ticket (their 2nd release) had 50% great songs, and the rest kinda weak, IMO. Permission To Land really didn't have a bad song on it. Subjective, I know. Hot Cakes is right up there with Permission To Land. Some VERY catchy tunes. The song writing is very strong. Great guitar tones. _____________________________________________________________________________________ And as an added Bonus: Everybody Have A Good Time -
Sweet! Nice job.
