  1. 1st off .... Nice playing. The Hamer had a fuller, fatter sound than the JEM. But the Ibanez wasn't a slouch by any means. There's seems to be a significant amount of signal processing, which may play better for the Hamer. A tweak of some EQ may bring the JEM into a fatter tone, closer to the Hamer. I assume both were using the same signal path, and the Hamer sounded better, IMHO, than the Ibanez with the signal settings used.
  2. Yesterday and today, on the way home from work, has been my Mötley Crüe playlist on my iPhone. Windows down and Kickstart My Heart's opening riff. Good stuff.
  3. Michael Jackson doesn't pull his pedophile stunts anymore. R.I.P.
  4. It looks killer with the zebras. And the flame top is outstanding! Once again ... great snag.
  5. That's a great score on your Standard. Beautiful guitar. Great top on it, also. I've never seen this pic before, (me being such a big old school KISS fan, I thought I'd seen most of them). Really cool shot of Ace and his Destroyer.
  6. Really nice recording.
  7. Very cool. Love that color. I really think that in the near future, a sparkle Strat is in the cards for me. This just makes want to head to Warmoth.com, order a body, and send it out to get sparkle-ized.
  8. Metallica's version of Whiskey In The Jar. I like Metallica's cover of it better than Thin Lizzy's cover of it. Met really spiced it up.
  9. In hind sight, my screen name probably should have been Lord Of The Palms. But really, as most ppl know, its the name of an Aerosmith song. Its pimp-o-licious.
  10. Sounds like "Freewheel Burning". (Which is a good thing).
  11. I have them in my Dean Time Capsule Z. I think they sound fine. Not as organic as a set of Duncan Antiquities, but better than a JB. They have their place in the scheme of playing guitar. I'm not a tone snob. I can make a set of PAFs out of a '59 Les Paul sound like shit.
  12. Hells Yeah! Jensen Tri-Axials. You weren't shit, if you didn't have a set of those bad boys, screwed down on the rear deck of your ride. I had them in my '70 Gran Prix J-Model. But I remember hearing VH I the first time. It was really a revolutionary album. Hardly anything since VH I can touch it even. One of the few bands with an "original" sound, back then.
  13. Happy Birthday, Mr Administrator, Happy Birthday To You ..... (squeal)
  14. And so it begins. I hope everything goes the way you envision it. I can't wait to some pieces out of the Murkat Custom Shop. Gibson is losing a class act.
  15. Totally Sweet, Roy!!! Ace Frehley's Reunion rig = RAWK! Pretty bad-ass.
  16. When your leg finally heals ups, use it to kick that guys ass that pulled in front of you. Get better bud!
  17. I'm glad I don't drop acid anymore, cause if I had watched that while trippin', my mind would have been BLOWN! Awesome stuff. Don't wait another 15 years to make another. Lets see another by this weekend.
  18. A price for a new item (and especially a custom item) that's considerably more than used isn't necessarily inflated. Often it's justified, especially when you consider the craftsmen who work at Hamer. I'm sure there's not a single person here who would appreciate having the value of their livelihood dismissed as "inflated" simply because what they create can be had for less on the used market, or the service they provide can be done for less by someone with less experience or talent. I'm not dismissing or belittling the work, talent, or integrity of those out there that put in a hard days work. As a guy who gets up at 3:30am everyday, start work at 5am, and usually doesn't get home until almost 6pm, I wouldn't appreciate my work or the products I manufacture being slagged upon. I also know that when my company charges $175 / hr, for the work I do, they're making lots of $$$. But to take that one line out of my comment, and imply that I think inflated equates to looking down upon the hard work of others, well that just isn't so. If people think it's OK to pay, what I consider big $$$, for a product, and have it devalue by half, just because they took it home, then they probably have more disposable income than me. I understand that economics are against the smaller companies, and that plays against their resale. But those same economics work against me, also. So I try to buy smart, not out of loyalty. Just saying ...
  19. I don't own any Hamers, at the present time. I love them, but there are other top quality instruments out there. I've owned 2 or 3 Hamers at a time, and have no regrets about it. But personal tastes change sometimes. Some need to graze on that grass, on the other side of the fence. I don't buy new guitars, simply because they're higher than a cat's back. I can find a used "like new" guitar for 60% (or less) of the new cost. The CS Strat I purchased a month ago goes for $3000 new. NO WAY I'd spring that kinda of $$$ for a new guitar. It was manufactured in June of this year. I got it for less than 60% of that. I have a Hamer custom order that I'd love to see made, but I ain't paying $3000 + for a guitar that will for all intents and purposes, be worth around half that price, the day I pop the UPS delivered box open. If I came across a similarly spec'd used piece, I pounce with all fours on it. I don't see it as my responsibility, to pay an inflated price to support a company.
  20. Make Cincinnati proud, JohnnyB !!! Looks like a good time.
  21. I hung a Custom 5 in the LOTT - Feynman - gwayne - Feynman - etc etc Standard Custom. I liked it. I think I also hung one in my old Mockingbird, although I never really liked the way the guitar sounded. Probably not the pickups fault. I think it was the tone sucking Floyd Rose. LOL
  22. Great score. A bit rough tho. Why would anyone put an Earnhardt #3 on their guitar when they could have stuck a #43 King Richard Petty sticker on it.
