  1. Damn. 60. That's not enough. R.I.P., Mr. DeCarlo.
  2. I hope that works. Here's an alternative: My LPC would NOT stay in tune - for years I fought that f***er - until I began gigging regularly again and figured out that you can triple-lock the string on the post and your tuning will be bullet-proof: Pull the string thru the post, then push it back about an inch. Kink the string inwards on the post. Wrap the end of the string inwards around the post and under itself. Bend the string - tightly - up over itself and kink it again. * Be sure to keep everything tight as you go*. Tune to pitch as usual. ETA: Give 2 quick pulls on each string at the 12th fret. Re-tune. You have 2 kinks and the string tightening over itself to lock it on the post. Triple lock. It cannot slip. Any tuning issues after that will be in some other area. Good luck.
  3. A great tribute and I've always loved REO, but Kevin Croakin needs to give it a rest. Or go The Eagles route. Gary was a huge influence when I was 15-16 years old. The live LP ('You Get What You Play For') was in constant rotation and all the cool kids could recite the break in '157 Riverside Avenue' by heart. Saw them 3 times around then, up 'til 'High Infidelity', when they bogged down in their own sap. Success ruined another good band.
  4. Photos stolen from Parkway: That is something else. Wow.
  5. I stand by my original statement - fanfuckingtastic. Wow.
  6. Yeah, but his arm turned a weird color....
  7. ....well, actually a couple days....but we're not counting...... They seem to come up every 6 months or so, so be ready!
  8. We're with you here, too. And you'll feel so much better just in time for yard work! WooHoo! My brother had a 6-way bypass - the most his doctor had ever done - at 81, and says he feels better now than he has in years. Looks better, too...for an ugly old f***er. You are so very fortunate they caught it in time. Good luck! Heal fast!
  9. That top is fantastic. Congrats!
  10. They got the 'product code' off 2 of the four 3-packs I have. I haven't opened the other 2. They said they hadn't gotten any other complaints. I've used their Regular Slinkys and Hybrid Slinkys for years and never had an issue. These are the first Primo Slinkys I've tried and it hasn't been good. I was buying D'Addarios in the 25-set bulk boxes back when gigging regularly (15 years ago?), and one box had issues with the ball ends coming off. They replaced those as well, which was nice.
  11. This one, Geoff: https://rockvilleaudio.com/collections/pa-subwoofers/products/rbg12s I just run it from the XLR 'out' on one of the the Harbinger subs. Works great. It's a cheap way to save the Harbingers a little abuse, and it has more than enough thump for us old f***ers. I really wasn't expecting it to be that good. They make a 10", 15" and 18", too. The 12" was best for me, both size- and dollar-wise. ....I should get another............hmmmmmmm..........
  12. Yep. Me, too. You guys are my second family. Even Kiz.
  13. They didn't mention that so I just let it go.
  14. I bought 12 sets of Ernie Ball Primo Slinkys (.0095 - .044) on sale and 6-out-of-6 of the high E strings have broke while re-stringing. So I told them about it. "It's the guitar", they said. Then I told them it was several different guitars, all of which strung fine with any other string. It's just specifically their .0095s. To make a short story long, they're sending a dozen .009 replacements. Nice. Good job, EB! On the flip side: when we re-did the kitchen I got my wife all new Calphalon stuff - pot and pans, big knife block set and the big spoon/ladle/spatula set. That's not cheap stuff, and when the spoon handles went sticky, I emailed them to see about replacements. Nope. SOL. They wouldn't even stand behind the cheapest shit they sell. Fuck them.
  15. After 3 years or so I don't miss the heavy-ass powered EVs/subs+amp/related crap that these replaced. They won't get as loud, but they never needed to. Plus, the dispersion is far better - you can walk side-to-side in front of them (nearly 180°) and the sound barely changes. The EVs couldn't do that. I set them almost as sidewashes - the band hears them just fine and they sound good out front, too. No more monitors! And for outside stuff I add a 350W 12" Rockville(!) powered sub with 1 XLR and a power cord. Gives it a nice little extra kick.
  16. I had a Gretsch 5120 Electromatic. It was a great way to find out if the real deal could work for me before spending the big bucks. It was a cool guitar for the $300 or so I paid, and I found out that I'm not so much of a big-body Gretsch guy. I think Chet would understand. Cool guitar, though. Not USA cool, but cool nonetheless.
  17. Anybody else get a PM lately from 'hsvq1y72'? Got one just now. Says it's our 'newest member'. It asked about a wanted-to-buy item, then tried to connect me with a known scammer email (jmoveinvestment09@gmail.com). What piece of shit tries scamming a guitar board?? Jeezus dude, get a fucking life.
  18. Not a fan but you can't deny his ability to write era-correct pop fluff drivel to a high degree of success. I'm sure he was a wonderful human being. I hope his family finds peace. R.I.P., Mr. Sedaka.
  19. Holy shit, Ben! I've played to that same crowd hundreds of times!
  20. That's it! We can start our own! Call it 'F*** That Other Shit Hall of Fame'. And only put real musicians in there.
