After borrowing a friend’s Tally last November, I was totally smitten and had to get one. I found a gorgeous (jazzburst) mint one in a studio that was essentially unplayed. It is very light as mine has the extra chambering. Mine also has a softer V than the borrowed one. Still a thick neck. Extremely fast playing guitar that sounds like a very beefy Tele in the bridge position. @LucSulla’s review is spot-on. One of the best guitars I have ever owned.

I had a short scale Monaco Elite Mahogany years ago and it was great and did the LP thing very well. I now have a hollow Fender-scale Monaco Monaco which has an incredible neck that is downright Shishkovian. The carved top Monacos are typical Hamer quality…overbuilt and super-playable. And the shelf is a non-issue. Buy with confidence.

This was really good. Look at Tony’s right thumb during his “solo”…does it look unnaturally skinny and bent? It does to me. He is such a great bassist.

I LOVE Blackmore’s vibrato bar usage and his embracing of flash when he felt so inclined. I was surprised he didn’t use the bar or even have it on his Strat for this last time. He was such a rocker BITD. Love his playing.

The horseshoe crab inlay is badass.

Frank Beard was a killer timekeeper. Both times I saw him with the Top he was flawless. I mean totally perfect. He was always underrated and I am glad BFG gave him the props he did. RIP. BFG should just hang up the ZZ banner now and return to touring as Billy Gibbons solo with his BFGs. It is not ZZ Top without Frank and Dusty.

My 2Tek is the only bass I’ll ever need. These both appear to be beautiful examples.

I played this same RR50 and 100% concur with Travis’s assessment. I recorded a track with it for an upcoming album and it sounded like, well, a plexi. No pedals needed. Buy from bubs and get yer 70s on!

He cannot play his Smoke solo anymore….as a huge DP fan of the Ritchie era, this saddens me. Ian Gillian din’t sound good either and he got lost in the song at one point. Glad they buried the hatchet on a personal level, but the performance was hard to watch. I’ll listen to Made in Japan or Perfect Strangers tonight..,and all will be well.

Yup early Skynyrd was plexis and Ed would use a Twin to carve out different sonic space from Allen & Gary with his Strat. Live they were hardcore Peavey guys. Gary honestly loved them.
