  1. GLWTS…interesting that the neck DC resistance is greater than the bridge. BITD, the builders just grabbed pickups out of a bucket. I do love a good grey bottom Strat bridge pickup compared to the 50s winds. Stronger and bolder.
  2. As recently as a decade ago it was always 3 guitars on a gig, one set up in open G for slide. If I was gigging now, it would be 2 guitars, a combo amp, and no more than 3 pedals. I continual to get more minimalistic at jams and usually am happiest with a nice guitar plugged into a nice amp that is cranked into distortion. So that means an attenuator. No pedals usually. When there is a pedal involved it is a tape echo like a Belle Epoch Deluxe a fuzz, or maybe a treble booster. But usually nothing but a cable. I do like an EP preamp as an always on thing. But for me, a really nice guitar into a really nice amp is all that’s needed for blues, soul, and blues-rock. As I age, less is more.
  3. 5 (at least at this point in time) if 0117 materializes…
  4. I have used the MCC and believe it IS Gorgamyte.
  5. @threehole, dibs. Let me know if you wanna sell. Astounding is right.
  6. @Disturber, according to an HFC post “question: The neck and middle pickups in my MIII are Seymour Duncan SP 90-2N and the bridge is Seymour Duncan SP 90-3B”. My local luthier is very good and could easily fill those holes. But that price needs to drop.
  7. I looked them up on an old HFC thread last month and didn’t save the screenshot @Disturber. Yeah, the holes suck in that top. He sent me a pic with the custom pickguard in place, but that was meh. He needs to lower the price accordingly for the holes and pickups. That Ultimate top is beautiful, tho.
  8. Ok…a couple nice Newports offered here, but I changed my mind for now on that model. I really want a M3 or a Monaco Monaco. Tally Pro and Monaco Superpro are still in the mix too. So still searching.
  9. @zorrow, I loved working with you on “Ashes”. Will spin this album. 😎✌️
  10. @Case, what is the neck profile? My 1980 was way too thin and skinny…is this one like that or more like a Vintage Carve?
  11. I have several awaiting mastering. I’ll finish my “retirement song” and send it. Marking my calendar now.
  12. Our @bubs_42 def has the doc’s attention. Brothers in tone.
  13. Somehow in the December retirement prep hubbub, I missed this. Is this still open?
  14. I have used the Weber recone service a couple times and they did a great job. Now I use Slice Inc. in Kansas City. They can do anything. Fair prices too. Call them and see what they’d charge for a full rebuild. Tell them Mark in Sedalia sent you. +1 to @bubs_42 recommendation to experiment and find what you like. I LOVE my EV SRO alnico…big, chimey and holds together like no other alnico. I also love my low watt organ pull alnicos which breakup immediately with any amp. All are tools for whatever job is needed.
  15. One of my fave things that Hamer did as routine….
  16. I owned the first Lil Dawg Pug combo which was a spot on clone of the Marshall 1974 Normal channel. That one was a fire-breather that I should have kept…think a nastier JTM at lower volumes…like a 5e3 and a JTM had a one night stand in an alley and this is the resulting baby. A total RNR grinder. I should have kept it. @django49 has it now. I found a Pug head a few years ago but it had been modified and didn’t sound near as good as my combo. Marshall’s 1974 was a straight up rip of the Dominator. I’d love to have one.
  17. …and I thought this was gonna provide info on Bad Bunny’s band, assuming he has one. Not that I give two shits…
  18. Gary Moore was such a monster. I remember reading in a blues mag that he played an Orange Tiny Terror on a couple tunes on his great album “Close As It Gets”.
  19. JTM and a 6g6b in one package? Yes, please!
  20. And isn’t a maple neck on a chambered hog body a key component of the Talladega?
  21. I would agree with both @bubs_42 and @Disturber that playing most classic NMV amps is a wonderful experience. Clean to mean with the volume knob and yes, you must be aware of what you are doing, especially at stage volume. So many tones abound. With the exception of my Valvetech, I play all my MV amps with MV dimed as I prefer the power tubes to really be cooking. So that means I often use attenuators.
