I have used the Weber recone service a couple times and they did a great job. Now I use Slice Inc. in Kansas City. They can do anything. Fair prices too. Call them and see what they’d charge for a full rebuild. Tell them Mark in Sedalia sent you. +1 to @bubs_42 recommendation to experiment and find what you like. I LOVE my EV SRO alnico…big, chimey and holds together like no other alnico. I also love my low watt organ pull alnicos which breakup immediately with any amp. All are tools for whatever job is needed.

One of my fave things that Hamer did as routine….

I owned the first Lil Dawg Pug combo which was a spot on clone of the Marshall 1974 Normal channel. That one was a fire-breather that I should have kept…think a nastier JTM at lower volumes…like a 5e3 and a JTM had a one night stand in an alley and this is the resulting baby. A total RNR grinder. I should have kept it. @django49 has it now. I found a Pug head a few years ago but it had been modified and didn’t sound near as good as my combo. Marshall’s 1974 was a straight up rip of the Dominator. I’d love to have one.

Gary Moore was such a monster. I remember reading in a blues mag that he played an Orange Tiny Terror on a couple tunes on his great album “Close As It Gets”.

I would agree with both @bubs_42 and @Disturber that playing most classic NMV amps is a wonderful experience. Clean to mean with the volume knob and yes, you must be aware of what you are doing, especially at stage volume. So many tones abound. With the exception of my Valvetech, I play all my MV amps with MV dimed as I prefer the power tubes to really be cooking. So that means I often use attenuators.

I had an early 2000s Bluesbreaker (JTM with tremolo). I did have the circuit modded slightly to original 60s specs. I loaded KT66s and old Euro and US preamp tubes. It was very loud and glorious when cranked. Beano tones abounded. What surprised me was the pristine cleans the amp generated. Chimey and punchy. It went into feedback easily. Though technically a plexi, it was a fairly bass-heavy amp and did not generate the tighter more aggressive JMP tones that I associate with the term “plexi.” But it was a great amp.

I find all the Strat positions useful, including the bridge pickup which many dislike. It just needs a tone control is all. Strangely enough, my least fave Strat position is the neck pickup alone which most people adore. I like the Tele neck pickup better. Follow @RobB’s advice and play a good Strat with good pickups through a good amp and find out which pickup positions speak to YOU. Nothing sounds quite like a good SSS Strat.

@Cboss, I asked the same of a Daytona owner recently. I was informed they are routed for three singles. But nothing a router can’t fix if you know someone skilled in that area.

I am on my second Lil Dawg 6g3 clone head. IMO the nastiest and best Fender…very Marshallish…but chewier and not as bright. It really sounds like no other Fender. But it just rocks. I love the tweed, blondes, and browns.

I love the top and the ebony on that M3….what I don’t like are the pickguard holes someone drilled in and the fact that I’d have to install 3 OEM Duncan 90s in order to get the highly touted in-between sounds. But it is in the running….

I saw the MIII on Reverb…and the Newports…but I’d much rather buy here if possible. Being blown away by the Tally I bought and seeing @Camstone’s Monaco Monaco (M2?) instigated this reach out.

Ok…Monaco Superpro…Fender scale…I have never seen one in the wild or being played. How wide is the lower bout compared to an Artist or a Les Paul…or even a 335?
